Position MIO's Finance team is seeking a Corporate Accountant to join our global group and be based in Munich, Germany, or Madrid, Spain. The new hire will be primarily responsible for the professional accounting and administrative work involved in the daily organization and implementation of accounting rules and procedures. This individual should be highly skilled in accounting, particularly in German and Spanish financial processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of German and Spanish accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws.
Primary responsibilities
Manage and oversee the company's financial transactions within the EU in accordance with German and Spanish accounting practices
Support the US-based accounting team, overseeing additional UK, Singapore, and Hong Kong entities
Oversee external accounting, tax, and audit providers
Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date entries in the general ledger (using SAP)
Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, following German and Spanish guidelines
Ensure compliance with German and Spanish tax regulations and reporting requirements
Support audits by providing necessary financial information and documentation
Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes with a focus on German and Spanish market dynamics
Collaborate with teams across functions to optimize financial processes and reporting
Review and approve cash payments
Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies; monitor and track bank transactions
Process invoices and payments and reconcile accounts payable and receivable transactions
Assist in the preparation of official ledgers
Assist in preparing documentation for tax returns
Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations
Work collaboratively, coordinate, and support the associates/subsidiaries within the group
Follow up on the bookkeeping of determined countries, creating periodic reports and presenting data to managers
Document workflow, procedures, checklists, and policies for assigned tasks
Be responsible for interpreting accounting results and deploying accounting solutions and procedures
Desired background
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or economics
Chartered accountant or other internationally recognized equivalent accounting qualification strongly preferred
At least five years of experience in accounting with a focus on German and Spanish financial processes
Knowledge of and experience in the asset management industry
Written and verbal fluency (C2) in German and English
Expert proficiency and strong knowledge of SAP, DATEV, and Microsoft Excel
Excellent analytical skills, high level of attention to detail, and a dedication to producing error-free work (to maintain accurate records and documentation)
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Accustomed to operating in an international environment where time zones may not overlap
