Core Facilities Project Manager Strategy Area VHIR is seeking a Junior Project Manager specializing in clinical and preclinical Units to join its Strategy Area. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the management and coordination of VHIR's Core Facilities, clinical and preclinical: Biobank, Academic Research Organisation, Support Unit for Clinical Research, High Technology Unit, Experimental Surgery Unit, Lab Animal Service, Preclinical Imaging Platform, Statistics and Bioinformatics Unit. Furthermore, this role will involve supporting activities as part of the Horizon Europe Widera project, iMM-CARE: BOOSTING CLINICAL RESEARCH FOR THE BENEFIT OF SOCIETY.

VHIR has created a strategic alliance with the Instituto de Medicina Molecular (IMM) João Lobo Antunes, and the selected candidate will monitor and provide guidance on enhancing IMM's biobank towards achieving the best outcomes, through improving processes as well as amplifying sample collections and creating new collections. The candidate will also collaborate with the Teaching Unit/ Clinical Research Area to facilitate and promote high-quality, innovative training programs that align with the institute's strategic goals.

JOB DESCRIPTION Education and qualifications: Required: University Degree, Life or Health Sciences preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Desired: Self-motivated, proactive, well-organised and results-oriented person. Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines and strong problem-solving skills. Excellent teamwork and relational skills. Experience and knowledge: Required: Up to 2 years of experience in project management or a similar role; experience in international projects such as EC H2020, ERC, MSCA, US NIH would be a plus but not necessary. Understanding of Biobank Best Practices (ISBER, OECD, etc.) and ethical and legal aspects referred to the collection and use of human biological samples for biomedical research. Knowledge on technical and methodological procedures for the proper collection, processing, storage and use of human biological samples for biomedical research. Proficiency in understanding research institution management and the learning pathways of researchers. Excellent communication and influence skills, with a track record of communicating health research to different audiences. Fluency in English is a must. Desired: Familiarity with the WIDERA Horizon Europe environment and an understanding of the objectives of the Teaming for Excellence program. Knowledge of EU and National Funding Policies to ensure iMM Care project activities' sustainability. Knowledge of participatory action research methods and citizen science strategies. Personal skills: strong organisational and planning capacities, proactive, results-oriented professional with close attention to detail and with the ability to work under tight deadlines. Team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Main responsibilities and duties: Assist in Biobank activities within the iMM Care project, dedicating about 50% of time to this project. The other 50% of person's time will be focused on promoting VHIR's Core Facilities (CF) and visibility with the support of the Communication Unit. Search for potential calls and providing support to researchers in their applications. Coordinate with the Innovation Directorate and the Business Development Unit to develop VHIR's service portfolio and manage external clients, mainly from the private sector. Continue supporting the Biobank in the area of organoids and biomodels. Support the implementation plan of ISO standards for biobanking. Provide support to the Complementary Plans project. Support project leads in promoting innovative social proposals within the health sector. Labour conditions: Full-time position: 40h/week. Starting date: Immediate. Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale. Contract: linked to project funding (5 years).
