Scope of the Role:
To manage the overall operations of projects, and ensure that the Programme, Commercial, Safety, Quality, and Environmental objectives are established and progress toward these is measured. Managing projects on sites around Europe, including regularly attending sites and being based on site as required.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Proactively lead projects from preconstruction through, construction, commissioning and handover.
- Manage client expectations and ensure client relationships are maintained through regular check-ins, addressing issues, and business development.
- Manage the tender process from an operations function and work with the management team and pre-con on new tenders for the BU.
- Act as a liaison to senior management and board of directors to keep them up to date on all aspects of the Projects and attend BU meetings as required.
- Deal promptly and professionally with any potential internal or external disputes.
- Manage the expectations of all stakeholders e.g. clients, end customers, contractors, consultants etc.
- Ensure that communication between head office departments and the site is utilised to maintain an environment of continuous improvement and ensure the functions are supporting the project teams.
- Promote a culture of incident & injury-free and continuous improvement in QEHS performance on the project.
- Review, in conjunction with the QA/QC manager and Project Manager, the effectiveness of the management systems as a means of achieving safety, quality and environmental objectives.
- Fully understand Mercury's contract position and the employer's requirements for the project and ensure the project team are aware of these.
- Manage budgets and costs effectively in respect of the planning process and provide input for cost reports as agreed; report on all major parts of the project as requested.
- Assess, in conjunction with the Project QS and Project Manager the financial and commercial contracting matters on the project.
- Plan, monitor and report on project prelims.
- Monitor and advise on the administration of the Client/Mercury Contract and on the Mercury Sub-contractor contracts.
- Ensure change management is handled correctly (Cost & Programme).
- Record lessons learned and ensure they are actioned and shared within the business.
- Ensure that an internal contract review meeting is held with the Mercury legal team and that the key staff attend.
- Review actual progress against planned and ensure that clear and concise reporting that accurately reflects the current project status is communicated to Mercury Engineering Senior Management.
- Ensure weekly internal project meetings are held and minuted.
- Ensure regular meetings are held with all subcontractors and minuted.
- Provide input to project planners to assist with programme development.
- Ensure clear communication with all staff and contractors through meetings, whiteboards, DABs etc. and ensure lookahead and expectations are clearly communicated.
- Ensure project risk and opportunity registers are in place and updated regularly.
- Identify any skills gaps on projects and assist with a recruitment programme.
- Initiate and support the training of staff and managers to ensure that everyone is performing adequately in their role.
- Provide a leadership support function to teams and motivate staff to achieve project goals.
- In conjunction with the Project Managers ensure that staff are working efficiently and effectively.
- Facilitate the formation of a project team suited to the delivery of the project.
