Bax & Company is a specialised consultancy supporting clients across Europe in shaping and implementing their R&D and innovation strategies. From our main Barcelona office, we work for large industrial corporations (many of which are Fortune 500 companies) as well as smaller high-tech companies, research institutes, and governments. Our services include the creation of business, R&D, and policy collaborations and the project management of such collaborations, as well as partner search and preparing and guiding companies in the implementation of Open Innovation strategies. Furthermore, we perform a range of activities related to the exploration of new markets, technologies, and policy areas, profiling, planning and developing business growth opportunities, definition of technology or market development projects, and the development and implementation of innovation policy. We principally work in fields related to global societal challenges and emerging technologies such as advanced materials, circular economy, climate adaptation, future mobility, industry 4.0, smart cities, and urban energy.
The position
The position offered is to become part of the communications team in our main office in Barcelona. As well as corporate communications for Bax & Company's channels, the communications team is involved in many collaborative initiatives ("projects"), which you would also be involved in.
Your core tasks would include (not exclusively):
News/blog writing: Producing SEO-ready "insights" and blog posts for our projects and the Bax & Company website. Topics include: Urban Mobility, Automation/Industry 4.0, Batteries, Climate Adaptation, Energy Efficiency, Advanced materials, among many more!
Social media content creation: Developing engaging and informative social media copy and attractive visuals to raise awareness of our projects and position Bax & Company as a top innovation consultancy.
Website copy: Ensuring our website copy is compelling and SEO-friendly. Experience with editing WordPress websites would be very useful.
Proofreading/Copy editing: Reviewing the team's written work to ensure it is error-free and aligned with the company's voice.
Liaising with media: Building relationships with journalists to ensure your written outputs reach a wide, relevant audience.
We are looking for native English speakers with 3+ years' experience in editing and communicating about innovation, science, and technology. You must be able to understand complex technical language and translate it into commercial copy for a wider audience. You should be a true team player, with the ability to quickly prioritise and organise your own tasks.
The following is essential:
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
An eye for design - attention to detail is a must
Highly organised; ability to multitask and possess excellent time management skills
Good knowledge of MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), and online tools/social media, e.g., WordPress, Mailchimp, Twitter, Canva, and LinkedIn.
Bonus skills
We require absolute fluency (written and spoken) in English. Fluency in Spanish would be very useful and additional languages are also a plus (e.g., Dutch, Catalan, German, French).
