Construction Project Manager: Substations, EMEA ConstructionDESCRIPTIONAs a Construction Project Manager for HV Substations, you will be part of a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling fascinating and challenging problems building and supporting the operation of HV substations that power our cloud business. This technical role requires a high level of judgement in utility management. AWS Substation Project Managers are part of a fast-paced team delivering HV substations for our Customers. Leveraging knowledge of electrical engineering, our Project Manager will autonomously lead and advise HV substation construction projects at scale.The Construction Substations team is looking for a Lead Substation Construction Manager to tackle fascinating and challenging problems building and supporting the operation of HV substations that power our cloud business. Your work will help HV substation construction projects at scale.Key job responsibilitiesProvide construction project management and oversight of construction related activities for new HV substation projects in Ireland, Sweden, Capetown, and Spain.Interface directly with construction general contractors during the bidding, award, execution, and project closeout/punch list phases.Work with general contractors and vendors to deliver efficient and high-quality project turn-overs in line with electrical utility requirements.Create construction project scope and request for proposals.Lead within the group and collaborate with internal and external teams that support the data center.Travel to HV Substation sites for engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, mechanical system reviews, start-up testing, and full commissioning, as required.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent engineering science OR 4+ years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree.7+ years of recent experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants.Demonstrated understanding of electrical engineering principles including breaker coordination studies and switch-gear sequence of operation.Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering principles for cooling systems.Demonstrated contractor and vendor management experience associated with construction and project execution.Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
