This is an opportunity for a construction specialist to come and join an established, multi £bn AUM RE lender with coverage across various European markets. They will sit as Co-Head of Construction Financing with a focus on the Spanish market. The person need not be coming from a lending background; this can be their first move into the space, however, they must be a seasoned construction specialist ideally with a QS/Building Surveyor/Surveying background.
The Role Oversight and day-to-day management of complex construction assets or loansConstruction risk management throughout the life cycle of the investmentWorking with the investment team to review new opportunitiesWorking with the asset management team monitoring and assessing progress of the developmentsAssessing the suitability of counterparties, contractors and professional teamsReviewing construction costs and programme of new dealsManaging external construction teams and design teamsManaging external enhanced monitoring teamsWorking with external monitoring surveyors accessing the technical due diligence of new dealsReviewing monthly monitoring surveyor reportsTracking construction cost and programme changes across the projectsApproving UTR requests for construction related drawdowns.Visit sites to meet with the sponsor, contractors and professional teamIdentify discrepancies in budgets, reports and ongoing projects, recommend appropriate remedies for these discrepancies and where necessary to challenge borrowers and third parties. Support re-underwriting of budgets by providing relevant compsThe Candidate Chartered Surveyor, Quantity surveyor or Building surveyor/ Highly analytical & numerate / Risk management & reporting / Real Estate Construction AMMinimum 15+ years' experience in real estate development / construction / asset management.Spanish speakingTrack record of managing projects in SpainHighly diligent, hands on and process drivenPersistent and organisedStrong planning, organisational, negotiation and analytical skills
