Competitive Intelligence Director – Vaccines and Immune Therapies With relevant TA expertise, coupled with sound business judgement, this role leads and executes the Competitive Intelligence activities to shape future-proofed disease therapy area and product strategies and deliver a sustainably differentiated portfolio.
With responsibility for supporting disease area/technology field and/or multiple high priority projects and brands across the R&D and commercial lifecycle this role:
Offers counsel with practical business judgment as well as analytic support
Co-ordinates, prioritizes and conducts research, analyses data and derives actionable insights
Leverages his or her strong written and oral communication skills to develop and share CI insights and recommendations that drive strategic decisions
Represents the voice of competitive intelligence within project/brand teams and broader TA specific forums
Typical Accountabilities Establishes strong working relationships across relevant TA groups to define the range of problems and translate these complex business problems into intelligence hypotheses
Excellent communicator, highly skilled in written and interactive communication, directly advising others at a senior level in the organisation
Prioritises and designs research and analytical plans, often involving complex judgements, developing innovative solutions and applying broad industry understanding
Conducts research, analyses data and derives actionable insights and recommendations that are shared across the TA and with senior leaders to drive high quality, evidence-driven strategic decisions
Responsible for proactively flagging key trigger events in the competitive landscape and driving work on potential implications for AZ
Ownership of CI input into governance interactions and specific BD programs along with input into broader TA processes such as TAS, LTP, MTP/R&D processes
Responsible for coordinating and leading scientific conference intelligence in areas of responsibility
Mentoring junior members of the team
Contribute to the shaping of the CI team vision within TA/R&D function
Responsible for the management of specific elements of CI budget and managing day to day TA vendor relationships
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Science related degree
5+ years' experience in pharmaceutical industry
Prior, direct competitive intelligence experience covering both R&D and commercial aspects
Ability to synthesise and integrate multiple sources of information to provide concise insights and recommendations
Ability to deal with ambiguity and objectively challenge and influence senior stakeholders
Business acumen
Ability to build collaborative and constructive relationships across senior levels of the organisation
Strong verbal and written communication skills with confidence to present to senior level stakeholders
Previous exposure to senior level executives
Deep expertise in Vaccines and infectious disease
Advanced degree holders who have a focus in decision analysis, statistics, business or medicine/science.
