We are currently looking for a team of Assistant Lecturers to join the Centre for Academic Persistence to support our academic programmes: Foundation Year (Business, STEM, Social Sciences) and Cert HE programmes, and to provide support to our students on their academic progression.
The Assistant Lecturer post provides an opportunity for an early career academic to gain experience and skills in learning, teaching, and assessment practice in a Higher Education context. Under the supervision of experienced academics, you will contribute to teaching at different levels across blended learning (full-time) academic programmes such as Foundation Year, Cert HE, and Level 4 programmes, provide academic support to individuals and groups, contribute to assessment, and undertake administrative activities to support teaching and learning activities.
We have developed a yearlong training programme for you to develop and build your experience for higher education, Arden University, and for persistence-programmes. You will be supported with learning and teaching experience in a university academic setting.
On our programmes, you will be involved in the following with our Foundation Year, Cert HE, and Level 4 programmes:
Assist with student orientation weeks (online) and face-to-face on campusSupport students with their assessments including 1-1s, group tutorials, and scaffolded assessment feedback sessionsAssist students by providing reminders and tracking those who are at risk of non-submission via phone calls, online 1-1 tutorials, and face-to-face assessment tutorialsWork closely to develop our assessment and resit clinicsDevelop/create interactive videos, podcasts, and activities that could be shared on our VLE and in-class activitiesRespond to and engage students through Q&A forums on our VLEAbout You: You will need to have an honours degree in an appropriate subject area (business, STEM, or social sciences), some teaching or coaching experience, and have or be willing to attain Advance HE Associate/Fellowship. You must be confident in supporting a diverse cohort of students. You will have the ability to effectively communicate scaffolded material, as well as contribute to programme enhancement and be confident in the use of e-learning technologies including all Microsoft 365 tools and applications.
We are seeking individuals who understand challenges to student engagement in a university setting. You must be positive and empathetic in dealing with student issues, ensuring we further engage students with their studies and ensure positive student outcomes.
