Commodity Supplier Quality Engineer – ElectricalRole Overview : The Regional Supplier Quality Electrical Engineer ensures electrical products comply with safety and quality standards.
The Commodity Supplier Quality Engineer defines qualification requirements (PPAP) as part of outsourcing/new product introduction projects (PDP) and ensures they are met according to project timing with no post-qualification quality escapes.
As part of overall supplier management, they will perform audits and assessments in supplier factories and follow up on supplier quality issues, driving them for successful resolution and closure using Otis quality tools according to Otis quality policies and procedures.
The job requires active communication with external electrical product suppliers as well as internal customers, including Otis factories, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field functions.
The status and progress of work should be regularly communicated to function and regional/global Management.
The job requires 40% to 60% travel.
The ideal candidate is a graduated and experienced Electric Quality Engineer, with demonstrable experience in resolving electrical product quality issues and knowledge of industry standards.
The candidate should demonstrate customer focus, a passion for quality, and a drive for results.
This position can be located in Spain.
Responsibilities:Supplier management with periodical audits and assessmentsParticipation in sourcing projects and new product development to assure the right quality level of productsLead the timely resolution of supplier claims (internal and external quality claims) to achieve given KPIsCooperate with other functions: Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field to accomplish objectivesUse Otis quality tools and proceed according to company policies and proceduresRecord progress and results in Otis QMSS (Otis electronic quality system)Report to function and regional/global Management on a regular basisNegotiate necessary actions with external suppliersPropose improvements to Otis products for quality enhancementQualifications - Education / Experience:Bachelor's degree or Master of Science degree (preferred) in electrical engineering2+ years of experience in an industrial/engineering company in the electrical sectorExperience in quality area including quality issue resolutionKnowledge of electrical industry standardsPreferred Skills:Result Driven / Pace: The preferred candidate focuses on company results, takes ownership, and acts with energy and speed.Collaboration / Inclusion: The preferred candidate demonstrates teamwork and the ability to effectively cooperate with other functions and external companies.Analytical / Imagination: Able to translate complex data into simple solutions and utilize quality tools to solve quality issues.Communication Skills / Empathy: Excellent communication skills are important, able to communicate effectively with management and peers.
