Commodity Specialist
Facility services and Utilities expenses
In Kennametal, we are looking for a German speaker to join us in our Global Sourcing team. They will create and lead the execution of the sourcing strategy for the assigned categories Facility services and Utilities expenses, involving a depth understanding of the supply market, supplier sourcing, risk and performance management, supplier relationship management, in order to achieve Kennametal's objectives in terms of Delivery, Quality and Cost.
Responsibilities
Responsible for Key Metrics & Outcomes including Ethics, Total Cost Reduction, Strategic Sourcing Strategies to Identify Improvements, Execute Plans for Improvement, Avoidance of Sole Source Items, DPO, Delivery Performance, Quality, Inflation Mitigation, Compliance to Conflict Mineral Policies.
Manage Facility Services, Utilities, including strategy development & deployment, supplier performance and relationship management and total cost management and execution.
Cooperate with suppliers and internal stakeholders (global and local), build and develop strong and mutually beneficial partnerships to fulfill the overall procurement targets within cost optimization, increasing value and contractual compliance. Is accountable for the annual KPIs for assigned commodity, including the cost reduction initiatives, cash flow improvements and Framework Agreement spend coverage.
Source and on-board new suppliers in line with commodity strategy, is responsible for supplier selection process, and segmentation.
Perform market analysis to maintain a good knowledge of potential evolutions within the assigned commodity (new players, new technologies, etc.), strong involvement in Advanced Engineering and early supplier integration.
Leverage market data and create various price/service models to develop an understanding of market drivers to enhance the overall strategy and promote timely and effective decision making.
Manage cross-functional projects, lead price and contract negotiations and, at the same time, continuously search for new ways to optimize the procurement costs.
Monitor overall QDC Performance of the commodity and drive improvement actions when required.
Drive the annual Business Review Meetings with key suppliers.
Support Operations according to escalation process. Act as a liaison between the manufacturing sites within the businesses and the Sourcing organization, ensuring that the sourcing and manufacturing strategies are mutually aligned and supportive.
Partner with the Global Sourcing Functional Excellence Team and other functions as required to ensure that defined best practices & designated tools and procedures are comprehensively deployed across the region and that sourcing projects are executed.
Requirements
At least 3 years of relevant working experience: proven track record within strategic procurement and/or category management on Facility Services and Utilities expenses.
Excellent English and German communication skills, other languages will be an asset.
SAP or other ERP system usage experience.
Bachelor and/or master within a relevant field of study (Business, Supply Chain, Engineering).
Motivated by leading negotiations. Goal-oriented and proactive. Strong communication skills.

Data Management – Skilled in analytics; able to maintain key data, leverage raw data to organize and prioritize information for decision making.
Project Management – Designs, plans and manages projects to deliver value-added solutions within defined time and cost parameters.
Financial Analysis – Able to create cost savings scenario summaries and track purchase price performance to commodity markets to differentiate between cost movement due to commodity markets versus supply chain improvement. Understand financial concepts including invoicing, accounts payable and other financial business processes. Interprets financial data, analyzes cost structures, and determines financial impacts of decisions.
