This senior role based in Spain is responsible for leading and managing our commercial performance in Spain.
You will work under the direction of the Country Manager, and in conjunction with the Unit Commercial Managers who oversee delivery in Spain to deliver effective commercial governance, performance, risk management, and ethical business conduct across the delivery.
The Country Commercial Manager (CCM) will be expected to drive commercial success and deliver and embed commercial governance, compliance, controls, and commercial best practice.
Working with the EUNA Commercial Manager and other Units (primarily EEN and TPN) to define, communicate, and implement effective and consistent measures to improve commercial performance and governance.
This position also includes the role of Country Risk Manager and of Country Ethical Compliance Manager; embedding of Our Code (which incorporates our code of business conduct, our PRIDE values, and behaviours).
Key Responsibilities Effective implementation of commercial governance, systems, and performance actions Compliance with Mott MacDonald commercial systems and procedures including relevant areas of Connect Business, STEP, BMS, EPCs, Unit(s) specific procedures and requirements Effective governance and management of liability risks and special commitments Strategic guidance and direction in all commercial matters Support and advise on commercial strategies/actions in respect of key projects and project risks Ensure appropriate agreements with third parties are in place, including subconsultants and JV/UTE partners Group risk management within the Unit and Unit Risk Management Improvement in Capital Employed Embedding our code of ethics, values, and ethical behaviour throughout the Unit Training, development, tracking, and review of commercial capability and support Risk management strategies to deal with specific areas of risk in target markets/key prospects Work collaboratively with colleagues in other units within the EUNA region and with the EUNA Commercial Manager, MML legal, commercial, Tax, and insurance to ensure effective, compliant, and consistent commercial across Mott MacDonald.
Support the Group Ethics Manager in embedding our code of business ethics; acting as an exemplar role model.
Support the EUNA Risk Manager to drive implementation of group risk treatment and in support of the Country Manager and Unit Commercial Managers to manage risks.
Be accountable for overall commercial performance and capital employed in the Unit through the utilisation of sound financial and commercial management principles and a continual review of appropriate management information Perform commercial reviews within the Unit and support with the design of improvements to optimise performance and productivity.
Use these reviews to provide comprehensive reports to the Country Manager on a regular basis.
About you Fluent Spanish speaker is preferred Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the Spanish legal system Proven experience in delivering commercial success with Spanish clients and/or in the Spanish market Knowledge and experience in the use of typical international and Spanish contract terms Proven Client relationship and management skills Ability to define and drive commercial strategy Appreciation of commercial risks and mitigations Proven experience preparing guidance and developing the commercial capability of Project Principals and Project Managers to manage risk, deliver profit, and completing commercially successful projects.
Leadership in business conduct; an exemplar Ability to maintain confidentiality and strong business ethics Knowledge and experience of effective commercial and project controls and commercial management best practice Proven experience monitoring and supporting the delivery of budgetary targets of large portfolio of projects Knowledge and understanding of liability and governance risks and controls Contract negotiation and claims Knowledge and experience of commercial risks and opportunities, specific to buildings and cities championing the correct use of contingency in projects.
