Reporting to the Supervising Engineer, Distribution Engineering, this position is responsible for completing overhead and underground designs, along with operational planning. This area of responsibility will require technical skills in civil structure design, electrical design, and electrical operational planning.

What You Get to Do: Sizing of electrical equipment, wire, and cable, sizing of appropriate over current protective devices, voltage drop calculations.
Determining right of way requirements for distribution facilities, material requirements.
Ensures tariffs and T&Cs are properly applied.
Manages external notifications and consents and assists with Post-Completion technical, financial reviews where necessary, and authentication of own and other designers projects.
Operational planning of distribution systems to support distribution design and distribution operations.
Ensure the long-term reliability and compliance to standards of ATCO Electric's distribution system in the region.
Develop business cases for system improvements.
Lead larger area studies and customer required studies such as Franchise Studies, REA Studies and Fault Studies.
Develop protective schemes and issue settings for programmable devices on both system improvement projects and new customer extensions.
Provide operational support to service staff by facilitating operations roadshows.
Authentication of own and other planners work.
Project Management from initiation until the project is released to construction. Update project management tool (APS ATCO Project Server) in a timely fashion.
Build schedules for projects and identify changes to projects and associated risks with those changes. Mitigate risks where possible.
Managing and owning the relationship with the customer from the time the project is raised until it is released to construction.
Customer liaison and consultant throughout the Initiating Phase of the Customer Connection Model. This includes communication with the customer on a regular basis.
Identify ways to meet and exceed customer experience expectations, improve service delivery, and reduce costs.
Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil or equivalent) from an accredited University.
Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
2-5 years of related experience.
Valid Class 5 driver's license.
Excellent time management, problem solving, decision making, organization, and planning skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook.
