Cloud Lead Engineer at EnerSys
As a Cloud Lead Engineer at EnerSys, you'll oversee our production environment, ensuring its availability through proactive monitoring and optimization. Your focus is on building and managing software systems to enhance reliability, quality, and time-to-market. By analyzing metrics, collaborating with development teams, and implementing automation, you'll ensure smooth platform operation while adhering to budget and cybersecurity requirements. Additionally, you'll explore new technologies, contribute to system design, and drive innovation within our organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions
Measure, optimize and monitor system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve
A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks
Define rules/thresholds on resources to stay aligned with the budget
Ensure the same level of deployment for all of our subscriptions (development, staging and production). Dev and staging environments may differ from the production in terms of settings (e.g. cleaning rules, size)
Design Azure Dashboard to follow the resources consumption
Define the naming conventions for resources
Define the tagging policy of resources
Closely work with our cybersecurity engineer to secure the subscription (IAM)
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives
Additional topics:
Support proof of concepts for new technologies and solutions
Supervise preparation and review of documentation
Desired Skills:
Proficiency in Terraform and/or ARM (Azure Resource Management)
Strong command of Linux (bash), PowerShell
Experience with Azure cloud services
Familiarity with Kubernetes/Docker
Bonus knowledge in Azure CLI, CosmosDB, and Azure AD B2B
Hard Skills:
Mastery of the Microsoft collaborative suite (MS-Office, Teams, etc.), as well as Slack
Soft Skills:
Strong teamwork spirit, recognizing the collective success of projects
Effective communication and documentation skills
Emphasis on reusability and a wider system perspective
Passion for innovation and staying updated on new technologies
Commitment to honesty and problem-solving, with a focus on quality over quick fixes
Comfortable presenting work to various stakeholders, including team members, collaborators, customers, and industrial partners
Proficient verbal and written communication skills, with excellent English and presentation abilities
