Context And Mission:
We are seeking a skilled System Engineer to maintain and optimize our Open Stack, Kubernetes, and Apache Spark environments, ensuring data security, to support BSC multidisciplinary researchers and be part of the data management team of the BSC.
Duties: Configure and optimize Open Stack services on BSC premises.Manage and maintain Kubernetes clusters using Rancher on BSC premises.Optimize Kubernetes clusters for performance, scalability, and security.Monitor and troubleshoot internal BSC DM services to ensure high availability.Manage and maintain Apache Spark applications. Ensure the stability and performance of Spark workloads.Implement best practices for big data processing and security.Provide technical support and guidance to BSC internal teams.Requirements: Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics or related fields.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience:
- Min 3 years of working experience in distributed computing environments (HPC/Cloud).
- Proficiency in networking and security of a BSC-like infrastructure.
- Proficiency in UNIX/LINUX environments and scripting languages.
- Excellent understanding of system administration of computing platforms like Open Stack.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience:
- Familiarity with Docker, Grafana, Ansible.
- Knowledge of agile and Dev Ops practices.
- Knowledge of Rancher and Apache Spark.
- Experience with giving support to internal users.
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
Competences:
- Strong scripting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team to complete tasks on schedule.
Conditions:
- The position will be located at BSC within the Operations Department.
- We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance.
- Duration: 4 years.
- Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement.
- Salary: 40.000,00€.
- Additional Expenses Grant: Each fellowship will be associated with a grant for additional expenses, such as IT equipment, travel, training, stays, etc.
- Starting date: asap - the incorporation for this vacancy must be before the 16th of December 2024.
