Since 2019, and thanks to the support from the European Commission, Open Nebula Systems has been leading the edge computing innovation in Europe, investing heavily in research and open source development, and playing a key role in strategic EU initiatives such as the IPCEI-CIS and the "European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud".
We are currently looking for a Cloud-Edge Systems Architect Expert (Contractor) to come and join us in Europe as part of our new team developing the next generation management platform for the Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum.
Objective Cloud Systems Architects are responsible for designing cloud infrastructure solutions.
They work closely with users and use cases to understand needs and translate them into scalable and secure cloud architectures.
Architects focus on ensuring that cloud solutions align with project and business goals, comply with best practices, and meet performance requirements.
They identify new business, market and partner opportunities by attending events and networking, taking stands at exhibitions and conferences, and responding to incoming leads.
You'll work in an agile environment to design, develop, test, maintain and validate with use cases a next generation management platform for the Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum.
You will also participate in the upstream community, on challenging projects developing innovative edge/cloud systems.
Applicants should be passionate about the future of the software defined datacenter, distributed systems, and open source Scope Activities in WP1 Next-Generation Architecture for the DC-Cloud-Edge Continuum of IPCEI-CIS ONEnextgen Project (UNICO IPCEI-2023-003 Services Analyzing functional and systems requirements and use case studies Defining the design, roadmap and prototype of cloud-edge architectures for end-to-end integrated solutions Designing the APIs, interfaces and data formats of the software components of the integrated cloud systems Choosing the appropriate cloud services and technologies for the cloud systems, and creating the documentation and diagrams of the integrated solutions Serve as an evangelist, contribute to community, and advice in the promotion of solutions for the use case segments Collaborating with partners in the cloud-edge ecosystem within international projects and open-source communities.
Availability to occasional travel and participation in international events and meetings Writing and maintaining software documentation and project reports Creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture Setting clear team goals, delegating tasks and set deadlines for your internal team Deploying agile methodology for geographically distributed international team in design, code, and test-plan reviews to help build robust software and promote knowledge sharing Duration From 1st July 2024 to 30th June 2026 (24 months) Location Remote (occasionally F2 F coordination meetings) Budget Maximum hourly rate is 40 euros Maximum work hours per year is 1.800 The maximum estimated cost is 6000 euros per month, and a total of 144.000 euros.
Technical Specifications Contractors must demonstrate the following requirements: 5 years of hands-on experience as systems architect in cloud computing management, orchestration, security and monitoring Evaluation Criteria Eligible contractors will be prioritized according to the following criteria: Price: Cost per hour Education: Bachelor, Master or Ph D in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field Additional Experience: Number of years of experience in projects to improve cloud-edge systems deployment and operation Technical Skills: Experience in cloud computing management, orchestration, security and monitoring tools Administrative Specifications Before the signature of the contract, the successful selected contractor will be requested to provide the following certificates: Positive certificate, issued by the local Social Security Authority, to the effect that the contractor is up-to-date in compliance with its Social Security obligations; or similar document according to the the law of the country in which the contractor is established Positive certificate, issued by the local Tax Authority, to the effect that the contractor is up-to-date in compliance with its tax obligations; or similar document according to the the law of the country in which the contractor is established The successful selected contractor will be given a two weeks period after the notification of the award to provide the above-mentioned documents.
