Your Mission as a Chief Operator: As Chief Operator at an Early Production Facility (EPF), your primary goal is to ensure the efficient, safe, and seamless operation of the facility. You will take charge of both field and control room operations, leading a team of operators while coordinating with management to optimize production processes. Your role is pivotal in troubleshooting, decision-making, and bridging communication between the operations team and upper management.
You Will Be Handling These Duties and Responsibilities as Chief Operator:Operational Supervision: Manage and coordinate both field and control room operations to maintain smooth and efficient facility processes. Serve as the primary point of contact for operational decision-making.Monitoring and Control: Supervise plant process monitoring through Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), ensuring key parameters are maintained.Process Optimization: Continuously analyze and optimize production processes to maximize output and minimize downtime.Troubleshooting and Decision-Making: Lead the resolution of operational issues and equipment failures, adjusting operations to respond to emergencies or changing conditions.Start-up and Shutdown Coordination: Manage the safe and efficient start-up and shutdown of facility systems, coordinating activities between field and control room operators.Field Operations Leadership: Oversee field operations, including inspections, routine checks, and manual interventions, while ensuring compliance with operational standards.Safety and Compliance: Uphold all safety and environmental regulations, enforcing the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and identifying potential hazards.Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on production performance, incidents, and operational efficiency while maintaining accurate records.Mentorship and Training: Mentor and train junior operators, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.Coordination with Maintenance Teams: Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to schedule inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance with minimal operational disruption.Communication with Management: Serve as the operations team's liaison to management, reporting on plant performance, safety issues, and opportunities for improvement.Qualifications and Skills That Will Allow You to Thrive as Chief Operator:Experience: Extensive operational experience in oil and gas / Petrochemicals industries, preferably in oil and gas production facilities with a good experience in a senior field operator role. Prior experience as a Control Room Operator with solid expertise in DCS and PLC systems. Strong background in both field operations and remote process control systems.Technical Expertise: Proficiency in operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing oil and gas plant systems and equipment. Comprehensive knowledge of hydrocarbon separation, treatment, and handling processes. Hands-on experience with facility start-up and shutdown procedures.Education: A diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or relevant diploma is preferred, though extensive relevant experience will also be considered.Certifications: Relevant technical and safety certifications, such as HSE or process control system certifications, are an advantage.Skills: Strong leadership and communication abilities, with the capability to manage and motivate teams effectively. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to make swift decisions under pressure. Deep understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations within the oil and gas industry. Familiarity with industry standards, including API, ASME, and ISO.Additional Information:Working Days Hours: Rotation (6x3).
