The CIO will be responsible for originating, structuring, executing, monitoring and exiting private equity direct investments in inclusive financial service providers and fintech companies operating in Europe. He/she will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and implement investment policies, manage risks and achieve the company's financial and social objectives. He/she will also be involved in fundraising activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in private equity, impact investing and/or development finance, a deep understanding of financial institutions and of the European microfinance market, strong leadership skills and a demonstrated interest in inclusive finance.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and evaluate investment opportunities in line with strategic objectives and risk tolerance
Structure, execute and exit private equity direct investments in inclusive financial services providers and fintech companies in Europe
Oversee the management of investment portfolios, ensuring optimal asset allocation and diversification
Monitor and management investment risks, implementing risk prevention and mitigation strategies
Ensure that monitoring procedures in place are compliant with funders, donors and investment needs and contribute to financial and impact reporting
Building and managing relationships with existing and potential investors, selectively leading fundraising efforts
Lead and mentor the Investment Team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
Provide regular updates and reporting on the value of portfolio investments in accordance with the company's policies to the Investment Committee and Board of Directors
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies
Stay updated on economic trends, market conditions and regulatory changes at European level
Desired Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or a related field; MBA, CFA or CAIA designation preferred
10 years of experience in impact investing or development finance, with at least 5 years of experience in private equity direct investments
Strong understanding of microfinance, impact and illiquid investment strategies and risk management principles
Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a collaborative and results-oriented approach
Fluent in English and a second European language, Spanish preferred
