About this Role Apeel Sciences' Sales team is charged with taking our technology to market and effectively communicating the benefits and value to customers, suppliers, and consumers to drive commercial success for the company.
We're seeking a Category Manager to join Apeel's growing Sales team. In this Director level role, you'll support sales to drive sustainable growth, and you'll help to increase demand for our products with our retail customers. The Category Manager must have extensive experience understanding consumer needs and the retail environment, and they must have a commercial mindset and fully comprehend marketing and sales principles.
This remote position will report to the Chief Commercial Officer - EMEA, based in Spain or the UK. This position will require up to 30% travel to customer sites and retail locations domestically and internationally. We're looking for someone to join our team immediately.
What You'll Do Be the go-to person for the EMEA sales business and collective retail partners. Building and maintaining relationships with key customers, retailers, suppliers, and quality controllers, to achieve sales targets and expand product categoriesCollaborate with our internal teams to refine and commercialize different products, market fit, determine competitive pricing and promotional activities, and corresponding treatment processesDeliver against quotas, ensuring company goals and objectives are metAssume responsibility for budget development and revenue for the category and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual global sales revenue forecastingAnalyze market data to understand how the sales strategies are performing and to identify areas for improvement including using analytics tools to track sales trends, and customer behavior, make forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory, and other metricsDevelop long-term sales and exit strategies through a deep understanding of the market, the Category Manager will develop effective sales strategies that promote commercial activities to maximise visibility. This includes conducting industry research, identifying target customers, and developing go-to-market plansFoster relationships with our vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of servicesWhat You Bring Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related fieldSales experience as a Category Manager or similar roleDeep category experience in produce, grocery, retail, or related industryExcellent organizational and interpersonal skillsPresentation skills at the C-suite levelExperienced in data analytics and forecasting methodsProficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Must have the skills to create reports, presentations and manage complex spreadsheetsAn analytical mind with a strategic abilityPassion for problem-solving and developing othersA can-do attitude with the ability to influence othersAdept at working with and influencing senior stakeholders (VP and above) in an advisory capacityFluency of retail analytics and performance metrics - and the ability to turn data insights into actionMust have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and SpanishExperience with retail panel management (Nielsen, Kantar, etc.)
