Hydro Aluminium Metal Iberia is now searching for a Casthouse Manager for our new recycling casthouse in Torija, Spain.
The plant will be a state-of-the-art casthouse equipped to recycle more than 60 kT of post-consumer scrap into extrusion ingots for specialized products in industries such as automotive, transportation, renewable energy, and building & construction.
Construction of the plant starts in October 2024 and is expected to start operations in the second half of 2026.
It will then complement Hydro Aluminium Metal Iberia's existing recycler in Azuqueca de Henares, operated since 2001.
As Casthouse Manager you will be responsible for building the new casthouse organization and preparing it for starting up and thereafter running the operations.
You will be part of the management team in Hydro Aluminium Metal Iberia.
Responsibilities for the start-up of the plant Develop a detailed Operational Preparedness Plan based on the existing framework.
Build the new organization and prepare it for starting up and running operations.
Start up the plant in a safe and effective manner, and in close collaboration with the project.
Responsibilities for the operations of the plant Ensure a safe work-environment in compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation.
Safeguard the product quality delivered to customers.
Develop, implement and follow-up strategic priorities and decisions.
Drive and follow-up the general performance.
Manage the portfolio of capital expenditures through project investments.
Develop AMBS and Continuous Improvement as an integrated part of the management and operating practice.
Ensure sound financial practices and a profitable long-term position.
Lead the management team of the casthouse and ensure development of the organization and its people.
Stay in close contact with support functions and Azuqueca casthouse organization to realize synergies between plants and ensure optimization of raw materials, sales, and optimization of operations.
Requirements Higher-level education at M.Sc.
or relevant experience within technical or economical discipline.
English fluency.
Spanish is a benefit and willingness to learn is a must.
Long experience from plant operations, ideally within recycling or casthouse.
Strong leadership experience and abilities.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
Familiarity and experience with Lean, Six Sigma, etc.
