About Us
Rabbit Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, produced over 200 million pounds of uranium concentrate from 1975 through 2016 and is currently in a safe state of care and maintenance. The uranium mined and milled at Rabbit Lake has been used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.
The Role
You will be responsible for leading a team of Lab Technologists and managing all laboratory equipment. This includes overseeing quality assurance and quality control programs, fostering an environment of continuous improvement, reporting, ordering and maintaining lab consumables, hiring and interviewing new team members, maintaining the laboratory information management system database, and more. A preferred internal candidate has been identified for the position; however, individuals are welcome to apply.
In this role, you will:
Lead a team of Lab Technologists by arranging training, coaching employees, and completing or assigning projects and sample analysis.
Be accountable for all assay results and overall lab performance.
Manage lab equipment by ordering parts, managing service contracts, scheduling service techs, planning installation work, requesting quotes for new instrumentation, and justifying equipment purchases.
Administer quality assurance and quality control programs.
Perform lab analysis work.
Drive continuous improvement in the lab.
Work with the Metallurgists to design and execute test work.
Required:
Diploma in laboratory technology or bioscience technology with five to eight years of relevant work experience.
Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered.
Excellent troubleshooting, organization, and communication skills.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office suite programs.
Ability to work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
Aptitude to become part of the emergency response/mine rescue team.
Recommended:
Leadership training.
Previous SAP and LIMS software experience.
Experience in leading a team in a lab environment.
Experience working at an underground uranium mine site.
