About Us Key Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world's largest high-grade uranium mill. The uranium milled at Key Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.
The Role The Student, Lab Technologist position resides in Key Lake Chem Lab, under technical services and directly reports to the laboratory supervisor. The successful candidate will work a term of approximately four or eight months beginning in May 2025.
In this role, you will: Be responsible for day-to-day analysis of laboratory samples by wet chemistry and instrumental methods.Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities within the lab operation and assist with corrective and preventative action planning and implementation.Perform basic maintenance of analytical instrumentation in the lab, and work on daily operational and data analysis.Required: You will be entering your third or fourth year as a university student in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related science degree and be returning to school for the academic semester following your work term with Cameco.Effective communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.Demonstrate a resolute attitude towards safety.Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.Be coachable, open to feedback, and a team player.Recommended: Experience or familiarity with XRF, XRD, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, GC, and other analytical instrumentation.Experience or familiarity with Microsoft Suite and SAP.Conditions of Employment: Substance Test.Cameco is an employment equity employer and aims to achieve gender parity, and as such, preference will be given to qualified members of equity groups.
