The Role Reporting to the Chief Geologist, Mine, you will be responsible for the management of tasks and duties within the McArthur River Geology Department.
As a senior member of the team, you will ensure consistent performance across the department, along with the team's alignment with the priorities of the mine operation.
You will work collaboratively within the department and engage site stakeholders on improvement opportunities and initiatives.
In this role, you will: Manage the drill programs and oversee drillhole design by the mine geologists Provide oversight for underground development mapping, data management and data quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) Supervise staff conducting radiometric probing and scanning Assist with geological and resource modelling, and estimations Collaborate on new technology solutions, communicate with other departments and develop solutions to problems and issues Provide coaching and mentorship to the geological team, and relief core logging Required: Bachelor's degree in geology or geological engineering Minimum of eight years of relevant geological experience An equivalent combination of work experience and education would be considered Eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) Ability and willingness to perform manual labour, including heavy lifting, as required for this position Valid class 5 driver's licence Safety-oriented work attitude Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft Recommended: Experience working in a mine geology and an underground work environment Previous work experience with uranium specific stope reserve modelling and production reconciliations will be a strong benefit Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
