Joining a team of professionals responsible for equipment maintenance, you will focus your efforts within the Reliability Engineering group at the Port Hope conversion facility. Reporting to a Professional Engineer, your work will offer excellent opportunities to understand the operating contexts of various production equipment ranging from fans, pumps, and conveyors to steam applications including heat exchangers. This in-person (on-site) position will appeal to students seeking to improve their hands-on troubleshooting skills. This internship will offer you practical experiences in the application of ultrasonic and vibration analysis tools in support of predictive maintenance and navigating S4HANA ERP software.
Position Responsibilities
Review and update existing bill of material for critical assets and ensure the information is current.
Create, review, and update, as required, preventive maintenance plan for critical assets.
Improve condition monitoring programs (vibration and ultrasound assisted lubrication).
Gather data and study the use of ultrasonic monitoring for the improved reliability of critical assets.
Position Requirements
Major in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) GPA
Strong English written and verbal communication skills
Legally eligible to work in Canada
Currently 2nd or 3rd year engineering student preferred - undergraduate student only
Comfortable working in a chemical processing plant
Term
Duration: 4 months (potential for 8 or 16 month Internship – please indicate preference)
General Information:
Transportation and Housing: The Towns of Port Hope and Cobourg operate bus services. There are numerous rooms and apartments to rent within walking/biking distance of the workplace.
Security Clearance: A background check will be done on the successful applicant through police. The successful applicant will be required to provide a negative drug test.
Compensation: Dependent on successful candidate's academic attainment.
