Our opportunity
Data and Business Intelligence (DBI) is a global function at Zurich, part of Group Technology and Operation, working with business units and group functions across the globe to help them achieve their business goals with the help of data. We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to help us further strengthen our relations with various businesses across Zurich Group.
Your role
As a Business Development Manager at DBI your main responsibilities will involve:
- Establish strong working relations and trust with key stakeholders across agreed subset of internal business units and group functions. Establish good level of understanding of their business and strategy
- Have a clear stakeholder mapping, overview of DBI footprint in these accounts and have a clear plan for the account development having our current capabilities and new developments in mind
- Share specific knowledge about your areas of focus with colleagues both inside your immediate team and across wider DBI
- Facilitate workshops, meetings, and presentations to understand user stories and user personas
- Work closely with data architects, data and BI engineers, project managers and other internal teams to design, quote and implement data solutions
- Manage stakeholder expectations and address any concerns or issues that arise
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in business development and data analytics.
Your skills and experience
As a Business Development Manager your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field.
- Over 5 years of experience in consulting, ideally with technology / data / digital transformation or project management components in it. Other backgrounds might be considered if the combination of experiences makes sense.
- Exposure to financial industry and insurance in particular is not a must but will be a strong benefit. You need to be able to ask the right questions, understand the logic of business processes, understand where the value comes from in various steps of insurance value chain and how data can transform these processes
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills. You need to be a good listener and an empathetic person to be able to understand the business's needs. You need to be able to communicate in a concise manner explaining solutions DBI is offering to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Executive presence and cultural awareness. In your day-to-day work you will interact with people from all over the Zurich group and of varying levels of seniority, normally up to business unit/group function heads/COOs/CIOs. Besides, as Zurich is present all over the globe you need to be aware of cultural differences and be able to adjust your communication style if needed.
- You need to have demonstrated ability to learn quickly and positive attitude
- Technical literacy – we do not expect you to have advanced python coding skillset or experience developing dashboards in Power BI but these might help you interacting with some of the technical teams. What we need though is your ability to quickly grasp core aspects of data governance, data management, data engineering and data analytics. In your work you might face everything from cutting edge technologies (AI, large language models) to traditional BI, relational databases and legacy solutions and you need to be able to quickly understand specific use cases and benefits of each of those
