The Business Development Manager Europe is responsible for driving new business opportunities not captured today in specific target segments, finding new commercial alliances, potential OEM opportunities, leading negotiations, as well as delivering revenue quotas on a European scale. They will develop relationships at the senior level within client accounts to plan and implement an account strategy. They will not have any direct reports but will need to effectively handle without authority and lead these complex business arrangements. They will be based in Europe.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Finding and developing new markets and improving sales.
Finding potential commercial alliances to accelerate growth.
Creating specialized market strategies and contacting potential clients to establish rapport, arrange meetings, create visibility, and acceptance of the Microbiology portfolio in Europe.
Researching prospective accounts in target markets and keeping an edge over competitor activities.
Identifying potential customized solutions with customers where possible.
Planning and overseeing in collaboration with Applications, Sales, and Marketing for new initiatives to generate revenue impact.
Customizing need-based presentations, demonstrating practical demos, pursuing leads, and moving them through the sales cycle till post-sales.
Developing quotes and proposals for clients.
Planning and driving activities.
Working with Marketing, Sales, and Operations in developing the most effective solutions.
Being part of the European Commercial leadership team.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Business, Marketing and/or related experience. MBA preferred.
Experience:
Consistent record in leading laterally and influencing without authority to accomplish business initiatives on behalf of our customers.
Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop cases.
Shown success in handling large accounts, geographies, markets, and segments of business.
Consistent track record of building relationships internally and using company resources to achieve objectives.
Able to make decisions independently to benefit the company.
High level of intensity, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
Strong passion for the responsibility of the position and the contribution to the overall business.
Understanding of microbiological laboratory processes.
Ability to work cross-functionally and with a wide range of employees with different skills.
Travel requirement for this role is ~50%.
