I am working on behalf of my client to find a Business Development Manager to join the team and be based in Madrid. With local professional teams in more than 10 countries around the world, the business is spread across a number of regions where the solar power project markets are growing rapidly and can sustain that growth due to improved clarity of government policies. The Company's strategy is to pursue high-margin project development opportunities in these profitable and growing markets, specifically, in the U.S. and Europe, where the Company has a market-leading position in several geographies.Responsibilities Support in identification of greenfield sites with high photovoltaic potential and initiate contact to landowners, negotiate and sign lease agreements, support in legal due diligence if necessary.Identification and qualification of brownfield projects for acquisition, negotiate contracts and support financing and legal due diligence if necessary.Managing relationships with landowners, local authorities, utilities, and regulators in close cooperation with other team members and/or if applicable coordinate co-developers in the process.Responsible for cost assessments (in collaboration with the finance team), time schedules, negotiation of contracts, and risk analysis.Checking technical and social auction preconditions impact.Checking project/grid connection feasibility.Coordinate and control the development process throughout its entire lifetime until RTB status under own responsibility or in cooperation with third parties including all locally necessary evaluations, decisions, and permits (e.G., environmental decisions, connection conditions, building permits, operational permits, etc.).Creation of technical project assessments in close collaboration with other teams (EPC and legal) and support in the due diligence process.Close collaboration with country director, Site Manager, EPC, and legal team.Representing the Company at solar events, conferences, and regulatory meetings.Requirements 4-5 years' experience in the energy sector or project-related environment.Bachelor's degree in economics, technical, law, or a relatable area.Experience in the Portuguese market as an added value (especially dealing with distribution and transport energy companies).Familiarity with the authorization process for zoning, environmental/building codes, and land/grid connection conditions.Ability to assess energy projects from an economical and legal perspective.Experience with financial analysis and reporting, market analysis, and gathering competitive intelligence, particularly M&A activity.Ability to work independently and proactively approach stakeholders.Excellent computer skills including MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP.Driving license
