Context & Organisation The Airline Sciences department is one of the digital transformation initiatives of Airbus.
It is now integrated in D as a product and service line.
It aims at creating an airline digital twin, unifying views of design office, marketing, strategy and services about airline operations and strategic planning.
The latest cloud computing technology is used for the product and services deliveries.
The Airline Sciences objective is to act as an advisor to bring airline operational representativity in all Airbus activities (pre-design, detailed design, marketing, guarantees, services).
By combining aircraft models, trajectory simulations and optimization, operational research, data analytics, and artificial intelligence, the Airline Sciences team is able to deliver realistic aircraft performances, network schedules, cost evaluation, and revenue calculation of a virtual Airline.
Specifically in the frame of the air transport demand research, Airline Sciences aims to replicate all the commercial aspects that determine the airline's revenues (by knowing the demand) in order to analyze the profitability of the business, designing the models to predict the air traffic by combining the latest techniques in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Market Analytics.
The job position requires the ability to accurately specify the airline business use cases (high-level functional requirements, objects, activities, and flow of actions a system should attain) in order to fulfill multiple airline business requirements and provide innovative airline-centric solutions to airline challenges.
At the same time, the position will be focused on framing and developing an innovative technical strategy based on a good knowledge of data analytics to produce explainable, robust, fair & trustworthy predictions or simulations of the airline demand forecasting.
The mission is to provide strategic guidance on airline economics to improve and adapt the design, customization, and evaluation of the aircraft to the market conditions faced by the airline, increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of our marketing campaigns and becoming a key enabler for strategic business decision making within Airbus.
Accountabilities Main activities The main accountabilities of the jobholder: Drive continuous innovation and forward thinking using the latest technology, expertise, and research.
Provide strategic input in support of Airbus sales campaigns and future aircraft design and/or modifications.
Research the latest technologies and technical solutions in the frame of airline economics area, focused on the environmental impact and the economic performance modeling (cost and revenues).
Define and deliver proofs of concept for a later industrialization on the Airline Sciences platform.
Identify the data sources and the information needed for the models build-up, defining the requirements for the extraction, transformation, and loading of data.
Lead the design, testing, validation, and deployment of the best technical approach for the development of the models of environmental impact and economic performance.
Define and coordinate the technical research activities (related to environmental impact and economic performance modeling) within the Airline Sciences team and with the suppliers participating in the projects.
Work closely with the project managers and the functional architect to coordinate the full integration of the models/features in the Airline Sciences platform, ensuring a robust maturity after the industrialization.
Define the technical requirements of the industrialization process and provide technical documentation for the proper development of the tool.
Active participation in the forums where the project strategy and the technical decisions are taken.

Excellent analytical skills, including communication and presentation competences.
Written and verbal communication skills, including the delivery of presentations to Airbus and external stakeholders (airlines, airports & regulatory authorities and other government agencies).
Specific skills Aeronautical Engineering Bachelor or equivalent.
Data analytics competences: pattern recognition, time series analysis, trend monitoring, forecasting, and identification of causal estimators.
Basic knowledge about Machine learning and related AI technologies.
Project management skills are desirable.
