Primary Responsibilities:The Radiation Safety Officer is a subject matter expert supporting Varian Medical Systems Iberica management in all regulatory and operational radiation protection tasks. The position is integrated into the Varian Radiation Safety International professional radiation safety team.
The Radiation Safety Officer participates and supports all general radiation safety projects to further improve the Varian radiation protection program. In cooperation with the international radiation safety team, the Radiation Safety Officer acts as the principal subject matter expert resource to Varian's management for operational and regulatory radiation safety in Spain and Portugal, strongly supporting our activities:
Sales and distribution of Radiotherapy SystemsInstallation and service of medical linear accelerators and integrated kV-IGRT systemsService of Ir-192 Afterloaders for BrachytherapyInstallation and service of the Varian ProBeam proton therapy systemProviding oversight and coordination of radiation safety compliance activities in Spain and Portugal, the RSO will ensure that Varian complies with all relevant radiation safety regulations. A well-coordinated radiation safety compliance program will ensure an efficient radiation safety organization, e.g., coordination of training activities and harmonization of procedures/instructions as well as employee radiation safety program.
