DSG is seeking a Plumbing & Waterworks Branch Manager in our Ames, IA location. In this full time, salaried position, work is typically performed during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, but will vary on occasion according to business needs. As a Branch Manager, you will direct and lead branch associates and provide overall leadership to the branch operations towards the attainment of customer, associate, and shareholder expectations.A Typical Day in the Life of a Plumbing & Waterworks Branch Manager:Work with the Regional General Manager (RGM) throughout the year on budget forecasting.Work with the Regional Sales Manager (RSM) to set sales goals and FMS goals at branch and territory level.Coordinate branch activities such as joint sales calls, counter days, customer and associate training.Work closely with the local manufacturing representatives to develop a strong business relationship in order to dominate mindshare and achieve sales goals.Work closely with marketing to promote new and existing products and achieve sales goals at branch level via relevant specials and signage to keep counter sales areas professional and fresh.Work with VP of Sales, Segment Managers and RSM to promote new product launches with local sales team.Work with the Regional team as well as marketing to improve the point of purchase for counter sales area and continually maintain a clean and customer-centric environment.Quickly address customer issues with appropriate urgency, utilizing the RGM, RSM, VP of Sales and/or the Segment Manager as needed.Develop strong relationships with customers and make joint calls on a quarterly basis with the outside sales team.Stay abreast of local market trends and keep the regional team informed.Conduct team meetings on a regular basis to create a cohesive team to work toward common goals.Direct and lead the operation teams in collaboration with the ROM to meet safety & cleanliness requirements, achieve operational efficiency, and meet or exceed performance requirements.Work with Warehouse Manager or Supervisor and the Regional Operations Manager to maintain and keep the local fleet safe, operational to meet the requirements of industry changes and demands.Work with the branch team to maximize warranty and inventory return efficiencies.Understand inventory requirements and have a strong working relationship with the purchasing team to maintain 3% or less of D/X inventory while growing sales.Quickly address associate issues by working closely with the HR team.Direct and lead branch operational teams to achieve operational efficiencies & safety requirements.Work with the Regional Credit Managers to manage local customer credit and minimize financial risks.Lead monthly financial meetings with corporate updates.Identify training needs and assign as needed.Identify key performers to mentor and to train.Become proficient and understand the following: Epicor Eclipse ERP, ADP Workforce Now, SMP, DSGSupply.com, Customer Service Guarantee, and the WeSource Center.Work with the local team to make stellar customer service a natural part of branch culture.Manage and learn to use all monthly, weekly, or daily reports as a tool to develop and grow the branch and team.Read and understand the DSG Facility Safety Guide and work to make safety part of the branch culture.All other duties as assigned.A Successful Plumbing & Waterworks Branch Manager Typically Has:A high level of general educational development in a Business, Marketing or Sales related field equivalent to that which would normally be acquired by the completion of a bachelor's degree in an accredited college or university.Product and technical knowledge normally acquired in two or more years of college or technical school OR 3-5 years field experience in the residential/commercial applications of waterworks and plumbing products.An in-depth understanding of company policies, products, procedures, operations and how departments relate to one another.
