The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in Dr. Jose Berrocal's research group. This position will be funded by ERC Starting Grant.

ICIQ is looking for a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to work in the group of Dr. Jose Berrocal. The successful candidate will work on synthesis and mechanical characterization of photo- and mechano-responsive polymer materials.
Responsibilities Thermal and mechanical characterization of polymer materials with dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), rheology, tensile testing, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA).Assist the supervisor in the daily supervision of the PhD students.Synthesis of small molecules and polymers to be used for sensing applications.Study the photo- and mechano-responsive behavior of polymers with setups combining microtensile testing and optical probes measuring transmittance spectra.Production of written reports and presentations to update the group/supervisor. Requirements PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science.Level of English equal to B2 or higher.Prior experience with rheology.Ability to work independently and in teams. Valued qualities: Willingness to undergo a robust training in soft skills and mentoring.Active participation in discussion meetings and brainstorming sessions.Willingness to coach/collaborate with PhD students.Willingness to contribute in project writing. We offer: A 3-year full-time position.Remuneration according to individual's qualifications/experience.Annual salary split in twelve monthly payments.Incorporation: February 2025.
