The Faculty is also home to one Sherman Jen Research Chair in Applied Genomics.
The Faculty of Science offers experiential learning through hands-on curriculum, co-ops and research collaboration opportunities with KPU's Institute for Sustainable Horticulture (ISH), Institute for Sustainable Food Systems (ISFS), and Applied Genomics Centre (AGC). As well, our Faculty is home to over a hectare of horticulture field lab, a working farm and a state-of-the art teaching brewery, which has been recognized internationally and locally, winning BC Brewery of the Year in 2019.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Kwantlen Polytechnic University's Faculty of Science is seeking applications for three non-regular, part-time faculty positions to join the Department of Biological and Health Sciences and support our B.Sc. and B.Sc. (Honours) degree programs. We are excited to welcome new faculty members who will collaborate with our team.
The successful candidates will be teaching (in no particular order)
first year biology and genetics courses (83.34% full time equivalent (FTE))
health science, anatomy, and physiology courses (91.67% FTE)
introductory biology courses for major and non-major students (89.58% FTE)

QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidates for these positions will have demonstrated teaching excellence at the post-secondary level, excellent written and oral communication skills, and possesses, at minimum, a Master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biology, health science or related discipline. Demonstrated experience with curriculum design and the scholarship of teaching and learning in science or enthusiasm for these areas are assets. Beyond these qualifications, we seek a new faculty member with strengths in the development and application of research in biology or health science and a keen interest in supervising undergraduate student research. We also seek scholars excited to develop connections to industry and community partners to advance course-based experiential learning opportunities. We encourage applications from those with teaching expertise and research interests in a range of biological disciplines, but expertise in areas including biochemistry, computational biology, biotechnology, sustainability, and Indigenization would be an asset.

A complete application must include a teaching philosophy statement articulating your beliefs around learning and teaching. It should also communicate how your outlook might positively impact the biology department, faculty colleagues, and students (maximum one page).
Finally, please submit a current curriculum vitae that includes information about previous courses taught, evidence of undergraduate teaching success (e.g., peer and student reviews), and the names of three referees willing to comment on your ability to contribute to a degree-granting Biology and Health Sciences department.

SALARY INFORMATION:
Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.
This competition is for a PTE of 83.34%, 89.58% and 91.67% NR2. When possible, priority will be given to the candidate(s) who can maximize the PTE either individually, or collectively, as such please indicate on your application your preferred workload percentage.
