A Science Communication Manager position is available at CIC biomaGUNE. The post holder will be in charge of reaching out to multiple stakeholders, creating new opportunities, and increasing the international visibility of the Center. This includes supporting the dissemination and communication plans, to ensure internal coherence and alignment with institutional communication activities. The work involves close collaboration with the Human Resources Department, Projects Office, Technology transfer, Research Groups, and Direction Units to promote the attraction of scientific talent to the Center and increase awareness and outreach to society.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Managing internal and external communications in an effective and timely manner.
Implementing the communication strategy and developing plans to reinforce branding.
Ensuring excellent and coherent communication and dissemination of research outcomes, center capabilities, and project results to the scientific community, relevant stakeholders, and the general public.
Producing and updating web content.
Writing and editing texts for news, press releases, newsletters, and reports.
Managing social networks.
Conceptualizing and creating new specific content in any format (blog, video, podcast, infographics, press releases, etc.).
Organizing and executing internal and external events (conferences, project meetings, institutional events).
Supporting and promoting the organization of outreach and educational events to bring science closer to society.
Required Education Level:
Studies in Science (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or other related disciplines), Journalism, or Communication.
Valued Qualifications:
Studies in Science Communication.
Previous experience in scientific writing (web content, news, and press releases).
Required Skills/Qualifications:
Previous working experience in Science Communication.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish, and ideally Euskera.
Proven excellent graphic design skills: Proficiency in graphic design software: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva.
Expertise in social media management: X, LinkedIn, Instagram, others.
Expertise in Office 365 tools: Word, PowerPoint, Drive, SharePoint, Forms, Stream, etc.
Web design knowledge: Google Site, SharePoint, WordPress, Mailchimp, HTML5, etc.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Teamwork, communication skills, and proactivity.
Ability to handle multiple tasks with close attention to detail and on-time delivery.
Ability to work effectively in an international and multicultural environment.
Duration:
The successful candidate will be hired by CIC biomaGUNE for an initial period of 6 months in a full-time contract with the possibility of a subsequent permanent contract for scientific and technical activities, linked to the funding obtained through the BiomaTalent GPE2023-001366-T call from the Spanish State Agency, subject to satisfactory performance.
