Descripción The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ISGlobal is seeking a researcher in bioinformatics to work on the project "urbAn exposome and fetaL growth: the roles of placental epigenoMe And function (ALMA)", project PI20/00190 funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III. The aim of this project is to evaluate the effects of the maternal urban exposome on placental epigenome and the mediating role of placental epigenome in the association between maternal urban exposome and placental function and fetal growth in 700 pregnant women. We are looking for a Master's level technician in bioinformatics and data science to work on the statistical analysis of ALMA. The technician will work in a cross-disciplinary team within the Environment and Health over the Life Course program as well as Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health.



TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Master in bioinformatics, statistics, data science or related topics. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Previous expertise in maternal and child health research. Knowledge of predictive analysis, modeling and machine learning is required to analyze complex data sets. Advanced bioinformatics/biostatistics skills and programming, preferably with R. Experience with database management software including R. Experience/knowledge in analysing complex multidimensional data using exposome methods. Motivated person capable of setting and meeting deadlines and delivering research outputs to the required standard. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Management, integration, and curation of multidimensional exposome, epigenetics, and clinical data generated in ALMA. Analysis of associations of exposome, epigenetics, placental function and fetal growth. SPECIFIC DUTIES Design, implement, manage relational multidimensional databases. Perform epigenome-wide association analysis of the urban exposome with the placental methylome. Conduct mediation analyses between the urban exposome, methylome and fetal growth. Perform annotation and functional enrichment analyses. Helping ALMA researchers with general quality controls, standards and good practices to ensure quality and reproducibility. Provide training and support to the teams for the execution and analysis of specific analyses. Prepare data reports and help with preparing manuscripts. SKILLS Outstanding organizational and team-working skills (yet capable of working independently). Responsible, flexible and with problem solving skills. Eager to learn, proactive and with great initiative. Capability of setting and meeting deadlines. Demonstrable adaptability and flexibility to adapt positively to changes. LANGUAGE LEVEL English (C1). Knowledge of Spanish and/or Catalan would be an asset. CONDITIONS Duration: 8 months (with the possibility of extension pending successful evaluations). Starting date: November 2024. Contract: (part or full time) Full-time. Salary Range: According to experience and internal salary scale. If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
