.The InstituteThe Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed of an interdisciplinary, motivated, and creative scientific team supported by a flexible and efficient administration and high-end innovative technologies. In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code). The roleWe are seeking a talented computational expert with experience in next-generation sequencing data, particularly in single-cell transcriptomics and alternative splicing to cover for a leave for three months. The primary goal of the job is to provide support to the projects carried out in the lab. The job will include (but is not restricted to):Analysis of alternative splicing and gene expression using single-cell long-read sequencing data.Analysis of alternative splicing and gene expression using bulk RNA-seq.Identification of genome mutations in WGS data.About the labThe Irimia lab is an international and multi-disciplinary team dually affiliated with UPF and CRG. It focuses primarily on elucidating the role of alternative splicing in vertebrate development and adult function, generally applying explicit evolutionary perspectives. Part of our work focuses on microexons in the nervous system and in the endocrine pancreas, a splicing program that we have originally discovered and to which we have made key contributions. In our lab, we combine computational approaches (comparative bulk and single-cell transcriptomics and functional genomics) with experiments using in vitro and in vivo systems. In addition, we have recently started a strong collaboration with the BIMSB-MDC in Berlin, with the overarching goal of advancing single-cell transcriptomics with isoform resolution.Whom would we like to hire?Professional experienceMust HaveExperience in next-generation sequencing analyses.Ability to interact and collaborate with biologists.Desirable but not required/ Nice to haveExperience in evolutionary analyses.Experience with the generation of scientific visualizations with R.Education and trainingHold a degree or PhD in disciplines such as Bioinformatics, Physics, Statistics, Biology, etc.LanguagesFluent in English.Technical skillsProgramming in various languages (at least Python, Perl, and/or R).CompetencesThis job involves a lot of collaboration with other researchers; therefore, the candidate must enjoy working as part of a team.Good organization skills. The Offer – Working ConditionsContract duration : 3 months, part-time (50%)
