Now, we are looking for a Building Information Modelling Manager in our office in Spain.
The BIM Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing and managing the implementation of BIM processes and technologies within Group IPS.
He plays a crucial role in facilitating collaboration among different departments involved in the design, construction, and operation of an industrial project.
What is the role About?
As a BIM manager, you will assume a dual role within the organization, serving as the BIM coordinator on projects while also being responsible for owning the standard operating procedure (SOP) of BIM.
As BIM coordinator on projects:
- Taking the role of Project Manager (Small Projects) or Procurement Manager (Medium-Large Projects)
- Develop procurement strategies aligned with the project's goals and objectives.
- Identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and select the most suitable vendors for the project.
- Entertain an IPS supplier's curated database, and a contract database suitable for IPS (size, complexity, etc.)
- be familiar with state of the art practices with regards to procurement/contracting strategies.
- Design and implement procurement processes, including the issuance of Requests for Interests (RFIs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), Questions and Answers (Q&A), Bid comparisons, Contract Awarding.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and align procurement activities accordingly.
- Overseeing and tracking the procurement processes, harmonizing scopes and systematically reporting the progress and risks to the project management.
- Familiarity with construction contracts should extend to comprehending their essential components in order to be able to lead the commercial negotiations. This includes having a comprehensive grasp of the necessary contractual provisions, such as scope of work, deliverables, payment terms, warranties, liability clauses, change order procedures, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
As Owner of the BIM SOP:
- Expertise and Knowledge: have in-depth knowledge and expertise
- Consultation and Guidance: advise project managers, team members, clients, or other individuals
- Research and Analysis: stay up-to-date with the latest research, trends, and advancements
- Content Development: developing content such as training materials, manuals, technical documentation, whitepapers, or educational resources
- Continuous Learning and Improvement: stay abreast of changes and advancements. Embed the lessons learned on projects into the SOP, the work instructions and the templates
Requirements A bachelor's degree in Civil engineering, Mechanical Engineeringg, construction management, or a related field.
In-depth knowledge and experience with BIM software tools and technologies, specifically in REVIT, Navisworks Manage and BIM360 (other Autodesk applications are a plus, for example Plant 3D)
8 to 10 years of total experience, with at least 5 years in similar positions and activities
Fluency in English and French/Dutch.
Familiarity with industry standards and protocols, such as IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) and COBie (Construction Operations Building Information Exchange).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Project management and leadership skills to plan, organize, and execute BIM initiatives.

Leadership skills to manage and motivate a team of BIM professionals.
Certification in BIM, such as Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) or BuildingSMART Professional Certification, is often preferred.
