We are looking for a passionate Lead 3D Environment Artist to bring their skills to our Dungeons & Dragons PC/Console video game project.
This innovative project blends Action-RPG/Survival mechanics with the unique elements of life simulation games to redefine the genre and capture the imagination of gamers around the world.
As a Lead 3D Environment Artist you will: Collaborate with other Leads, Directors, and Producers to plan and accomplish the strategic goals of the 3D Environment Art team.
Deliver excellent translations of designs for environments and objects following the overall game vision with an emphasis on stylization.
Collaborate with other disciplines such as Level Design, Lighting, VFX and Tech Art in crafting a variety of biomes, night/day cycles, and weather conditions.
Create standalone and modular Environment assets varying in scale and complexity.
Produce and lead the development of high-quality 3D game assets utilizing a variety of techniques including high-to-low poly workflows, hard surface modeling, and organic sculpting.
Verify the quality of objects in the game, and make improvements where necessary to fit technical constraints, performance targets, and artistic direction.
Lead the effort in working out any visual problems within the environments that arise during production.
Lead a team of 3D Environment Artists and be an active motivator in team discussions, critiques, and reviews to ensure the timely completion of assets on style and at the desired quality bar.
Mentor the 3D Environment Art staff by providing creative and technical training, guidance, and feedback.
Document and communicate workflow and best practices to support consistency across the 3D Environment Art Team.
Implement modular asset workflows to ensure reusability and efficiency in level design.
Maintain an organized asset library and ensure proper naming conventions and file structures are followed across the team.
Track asset production through task management software (like Jira, Asana) and ensure deadlines are met.
Qualifications: High-quality portfolio of gamedev-relevant 3D Environment Art, preferably with an emphasis on stylization.
Able to interpret and follow concepts and reference material to create clean, detailed, and accurate 3D environments and sets.
An excellent understanding of game mechanics related to 3Cs, objects, and environments.
Understanding of technical constraints for cross-platform production.
Experience integrating 3D assets into industry-leading game engines such as Unity or Unreal (Unity experience is a desired plus).
Excellent knowledge of modeling programs such as 3DSMAX, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, and texture/material authoring tools such as Photoshop and Substance.
Experience with Houdini.
Understanding of realtime lighting principles/best practices (including post-process/grading).
