RINA is currently recruiting for a Barcelona Marine Senior Surveyor to join its office in Barcelona within the Marine South-West Europe Region Division.
Mission
A senior surveyor serves as a seasoned and highly knowledgeable professional within the organization, applying expertise in maritime rules, regulations, and industry principles. They play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement of surveying processes.
Key Accountabilities Acts as a professional specialist for the organization in the application of related Rules, Regulations, requirements, concepts, principles, and processes;Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys performed;Maintains survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner in area of responsibility;Maintains active awareness of new working methods and developments affecting the technical scope of assigned responsibilities;Recommends new approaches to problems encountered;Performs routine surveys on classed ships, platforms or other marine structures and at manufacturers sites for compliance with classification and statutory requirements;Engages in contact with clients to solve problems within area of expertise. Qualifications Formal qualification in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or Marine Engineer;5 years professional experience is preferred, either as surveyor or as owner superintendent or as shipyard quality control inspector or as a Chief Engineer (on board of merchant ships);Young professionals may also be considered within the area of expertise above;Previous experience as a surveyor of IACS Classification Societies would be a significant advantage;Physically able to work in confined spaces, hazardous atmospheres, extreme temperatures and weather conditions, etc., and therefore being not suffering from allergies, vertigo, claustrophobia, etc.;Willing to travel frequently;Practical and theoretical knowledge of hull, machinery, materials, equipment and safety systems of ships;Fluent in English language, both spoken and written;Good communication skills;Ability to work alone, in a team and on tight schedules;Ability to manage conflicts and to negotiate;Pro-active customer focused approach.
