The AWS Tech Lead Engineer will guide the technical squad in designing, implementing, and maintaining innovative AWS-based solutions. This role combines deep technical expertise with leadership, ensuring the squad is self-managed and follows industry best practices to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Development:Provide functional and technical support to the technical squad.Guide and mentor AWS platform engineers, fostering growth and technical excellence.Drive the squad to self-management, promoting best practices in cloud engineering.Collaborate with Scrum Masters to enhance team performance through Agile practices, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.Cloud Architecture & Platform Design:Design, develop, and deploy scalable, reliable, and secure AWS solutions.Optimize AWS platform performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.Develop and maintain blueprints and design documents for platform architecture.Technical Implementation:Automate cloud operations using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, or AWS CloudFormation.Use scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to optimize and automate workflows.Ensure adherence to CI/CD practices, incorporating governance and security measures.Governance & Security:Implement security best practices to safeguard cloud resources and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.Develop risk assessments, disaster recovery plans, and support execution during disaster recovery exercises.Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:Partner with product and platform owners to deliver innovative, frictionless platforms that empower rapid product development and release.Act as the primary escalation point for technical incidents related to the AWS platform.Work with cross-functional teams to evaluate solutions and recommend strategies for modernizing and consolidating legacy platforms.Continuous Improvement:Stay up-to-date with AWS advancements and industry trends.Drive PoC initiatives to explore new technologies while ensuring systems scale to thousands of end-users.Manage platform evolution, focusing on performance, scalability, and resource utilization.Operational Excellence:Perform routine platform maintenance, including patching and updates.Conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues and enhance platform stability.Continuously evaluate and improve platform design and delivery effectiveness.Qualifications: Experience:5+ years in cloud engineering, with at least 3 years specializing in AWS.Proven leadership experience guiding technical squads.Hands-on expertise in designing and deploying AWS-based solutions.Technical Skills:Proficiency in AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Route53).Strong knowledge of IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation).Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.Experience with Red Hat Linux, Docker, and observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, DataDog).Scripting proficiency (Python, Bash, PowerShell).Certifications:AWS Certified Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.Soft Skills:Fluent in English and Spanish.Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong communication and collaboration abilities.A team player with the ability to manage tasks independently.From many places, we work as one, moving from better to best together.
