Grasshopper Air Mobility is seeking an experienced mobility engineer to lead the development of an autonomous drive-flight mobility platform.
This 3-year full-time project is your chance to make a significant impact on the future of advanced air mobility.
About Us Grasshopper Air Mobility specializes in creating autonomous drive-flight cargo drones.
Our unique VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing) designs integrate seamlessly into both automated and manual logistics systems, redefining how goods are transported globally.
With sustainability as our core value, we are developing electric and hybrid-electric drones to meet the logistics challenges of tomorrow.
Key Responsibilities As a Autonomous Mobility Engineer, you will: Lead the development of algorithms for autonomous navigation, collision avoidance, and environmental mapping for both drive and flight operations.
Design and implement a modular software platform for seamless transitions between driving and flying modes.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate propulsion and sensor systems.
Conduct extensive simulation and testing to validate the platform's performance under real-world conditions.
Optimize the platform for scalability, energy efficiency, and real-time data tracking.
Document research findings for internal use, regulatory compliance, and potential publications.
Qualifications PhD Requirement : A completed PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Autonomous Systems, or a closely related field.
Candidates currently pursuing their PhD cannot be considered.
Technical Expertise : Demonstrated experience in software development for autonomous systems, with a strong foundation in algorithms for navigation, collision avoidance, and environmental mapping.
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in robotics and autonomous systems, such as Python, C++, or Java.
Hands-on experience with simulation frameworks like ROS (Robot Operating System), Gazebo, or MATLAB/Simulink.
Familiarity with the integration of sensors (e.g., LIDAR, cameras) and propulsion systems for autonomous platforms.
Proven ability to design and implement modular software architectures.
Research and Innovation : A strong publication record in relevant fields, highlighting innovative contributions to autonomous mobility or software development.
Experience working on interdisciplinary projects that involve both research and practical applications.
