The Role We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic Associate SIM Engineer to join the SIM Engineering team, as the team expands to support Cubic's increasing customers and solutions portfolio.
The SIM Engineering team is responsible for delivering Cubic solutions in the SIM/eSIM Remote SIM Provisioning technology domain, delivering state-of-the-art technology projects with global connectivity reach to the automotive, agriculture and transport industries. We build connectivity solutions which leverage remote sim provisioning platforms, managing a complex ecosystem of SIM/eSIM technologies whilst executing on SIM/eSIM card logistics and fulfilment and supporting a global customer base.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be exposed to new connectivity technologies such as 5G, non-terrestrial networks, and eSIM evolution to GSMA specification SGP.32 and beyond, and will influence Cubic's connectivity solutions accordingly. The successful candidate should be comfortable proactively working in a dynamic, highly flexible environment, bring a positive and collaborative attitude to work with an open and analytical mind.
In this role you will: Design, develop and document new features or products to the existing Cubic SIM/eSIM solutions for M2M and IoT customersResearch, learn and show case new technologies to improve existing Cubic Connectivity product offering via enhanced SIM/eSIM features and play a leading role in the development of new product opportunities for the businessDevelop new concepts and share knowledge across teams on new technologies and updates in the marketParticipate in RFx processes for the selection and onboarding of new suppliers.Design, develop, test SIM-based applications and tools supporting SIM applications and their integration within the ecosystemLearn and solve customer pain-points for improved end-user experience and customer satisfactionContinuously interact with the rest of the technology teams and gain visibility of E2E process and solutionsWhat is in it for you This is a great opportunity for a junior SIM Engineer to gain more knowledge of the complete End-to-End process of SIM/eSIM ordering and provisioning, SIM/eSIM Over-the-Air (OTA) infrastructure and management, SIM Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP) solutions for M2M and IoT, SIM – device – network interaction and more. It offers a great opportunity to demonstrate technical and organisational abilities and bring innovative ideas to life, working in a small team of experienced engineers at the cutting edge of M2M, and IoT eSIM technologies, supporting other technical teams on full end to end solutions and being exposed to a diverse range of areas across the business.
Required Skills Third level qualification in a technology discipline such as engineering, computer science or a similar discipline2+ years working in a technology organisation, preferably telecoms technology, with some experience in SIM/eSIM/OTA engineering R&DStrong working experience and deep understanding of:Remote SIM Provisioning technologies GSMA SGP.02, GSMA SGP.22/SGP.32 and beyondETSI/3GPP smart card/(U)SIM specifications, ISO 7816, Global Platform 2.2+ specificationsOn-hands modem/TCU testingSIM OTA development and testingSIM Security knowledgeMonitoring and alerting tools e.g., DataDog, ZabbixJava, C#, SQL, scripting knowledgeProactive and open-minded person with analytical & problem-solving thinkingFast learner who likes to deep-dive within multiple technologiesQuality focused individual with curiosity for technologyAbility to work unsupervised and take responsibility for the completion of tasks.Effective communication skillsDesirable Skills Proven track record in working with operations/support teams.Experience using Atlassian tools, e.g., Confluence, JiraExperience working on Kanban model to deliver resultsExperience/knowledge of Postman APIDemonstratable ability to solve complex problems and propose new perspectives on existing solutions.Works independently; receives minimal guidance.Ability to act as a mentoring resource for colleagues with less experience.Willingness to contribute to process improvementsAbility to lead the work of small project teamsWorks with minimal guidanceProfessional Certifications in specialised discipline.Strong industry experience with leading companies.
