You will be based in our Madrid or Barcelona office as part of our Private Equity & Principal Investors (PEPI) practice.
Our practice is the world's leading advisor to the PEPI industry and a high growth area for the firm, working with many of the most significant global and local private investors and their portfolio companies.
You will work in teams and directly with our clients, as well as with the wider McKinsey network, including a range of experts from industry and functional areas to data scientists, researchers, and software designers.
McKinsey believes in strengths-based development and coaching. You'll receive frequent mentoring from colleagues, including a senior colleague from your office or practice who will help you grow and achieve your career goals.
Additionally, you will have a professional development manager who will manage staffing to help you choose projects based on your priorities and the needs of client service teams.
When you join McKinsey, you are joining a firm whose culture is distinctive and inclusive. We will accelerate your development as a leader to create positive, enduring change in the world.
You will work in teams of typically 3-5 consultants to support private investor clients and their portfolio companies throughout the deal lifecycle, including diligence, value creation topics, and exit support.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to assess and identify market attractiveness, provide targeted information and specialized financial analysis on potential acquisitions, and prepare and deliver high-impact communication of your synthesized findings.
You will also work directly with portfolio companies on their value creation agenda, spanning a diverse set of topics, and become a subject matter expert on topics related to our service to investors.
You will be recognized as a valuable resource of experience, information, and expertise both inside the firm and by our clients.
You will receive training on how to better structure ambiguous problems and take action to solve them, as well as synthesize clear takeaways from complex information into actionable recommendations using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
You will work effectively with diverse teams to develop the best solutions and move people and organizations to act.
You will establish trust-based relationships with clients to better serve their organizations, communicate effectively with all audiences, including senior leaders, and develop your leadership style, leveraging your passions, strengths, and personal values.
During your first few years with the firm, you will serve as an associate on multiple client engagements and work with various colleagues and clients in a range of private investor settings across different industry and functional areas, developing significant business experience and an investor mindset.
You will likely intersect with many elements of our firm's work, including digital, implementation, and tech and analytics capabilities.
Your role differs from McKinsey's generalist associate role in its focus; it will concentrate entirely on serving investor clients and their portfolio companies, offering exposure to a wide variety of sectors and functional levers.
PEPI consultants will be staffed full-time to client engagements.
There is flexibility to hire at the associate or junior associate level, depending on candidate experience.
