Associate Director, Informatics Scientist, Tools and Solutions Barcelona Competitive Salary + Benefits Introduction to role: Are you ready to apply your scientific and computational knowledge to deliver new insights on existing data? As an Associate Director Informatics Scientist within Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (DS&AI), based at our growing Barcelona site, you will be the lead developer of software for both one-time analysis and robust, widely used scientific tools and systems.
Accountabilities: In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development of software for both one-time analysis and robust, widely used scientific tools. You will model data and processes and architect systems to ensure, by design, any systems built are fit for purpose, usable, maintainable and manageable. You will also forge effective relationships with a range of collaborators to ensure utilization and value of software and analyses.
Essential Skills/Experience: Bachelors Degree level or equivalent number of years of experience in science based education essential, postgraduate education in science, bioinformatics/system biology or computer science a plus.Full stack software development skills, relational databases, Java serverside development, and web frontend development.Demonstrable ability to create high quality software and innovative solutions.Scientifically literate. Able to pick up new ideas and concepts quickly.Hands on experience with research and handling & analysis of scientific datasets a distinct advantage.Track record of innovative research an advantage.Ability to design and create new data analysis or algorithms.Experienced in leading development, driving good development practices and high quality.Thoroughness and tenacity in solving problems.Excellent analytic skills – able to see the underlying problem and synthesize transformative solutions.Experience working in the pharma/biotech industry or in biological academic research is an advantage.
