The Role
We are looking for an Associate Analyst (AA) to join the RRS - Sub-Sovereign Group. Sub-Sovereign credit analysis and research span a wide range of entities: regional and local governments as well as entities related to various levels of government through ownership or guarantees: public universities, hospitals, public sector housing providers, utilities, government agencies, etc. The AA will provide high profile credit analysis and will form a holistic view on a portfolio of Sub-Sovereign entities in 2-3 EMEA countries. In addition to the rating activities, the team publishes in-depth research on relevant credit issues, also taking into account environmental, social and governance factors.
Key Responsibilities
Performing preliminary credit analysis to support ratings, research, as well as analytical outreach and other meetings. Analytical work includes:
Interacting with intermediaries and issuers, attending analytical and outreach meetings with clients and investors (regional travel might be required) and assist with meeting follow-up reports.Preparing, analysing and interpreting financial and economic data, identifying trends and key factors that affect issuers' credit quality, writing analytical commentary in accordance with Moody's methodologies to support credit monitoring/surveillance and internal portfolio reviews.Reviewing rating documentation, including financial statements, bank loans, covenants and bond indentures in preparation of Rating Committees, developing and formulating a solid analytical conclusion.Supporting sector and issuer research writing.Performing a number of routine administrative and other ad hoc credit-related tasks. Minimum Requirements
- Minimum undergraduate/first level degree (e.g., Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent qualifications) in a relevant field such as economics, public administration, social/political sciences, etc.; a Master's degree is an asset.
- Demonstrated interest in public sector analysis/public finance through coursework or relevant work experience.
- Some prior experience in research writing, quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Solid verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English and German is essential.
- Good quantitative and Excel skills.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
The Ratings & Research Support department is responsible for producing analytical inputs in support of Moody's Ratings and Research function. In addition, this department will provide support for surveillance requirements and partner with R&R to provide the necessary support for issuer and investor interactions.
