Offer Description Applications are invited by the University of Alicante President for an open-ended contractual position as an assistant technologist to collaborate with the funded research line "Satellite Geodesy for Earth Observation and Climate Change". Reference: I-PAS-67/24 Project: GVA-THINKINAZUL/2021/035 funded by the Valencia Region Government's Department of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment and by the European Union's NextGeneration Programme. Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

First. Number of vacancies and features of the job vacancy: Number of job vacancies: one. Job position: assistant technologist. Funded line of research: "Satellite Geodesy for Earth Observation and Climate Change". Working hours: full-time position in morning/afternoon sessions. Remuneration: €1,500 gross/monthly plus two extra payments of the same amount as the monthly remuneration, or a proportional part for periods of less than one year. Second. First project in which the successful applicant will collaborate. Name of the project: "Towards a system for observation and monitoring of currents off the Valencian coast. Application to pollutant dispersion and biological applications". Reference: GVA-THINKINAZUL/2021/035. Funding agency: Valencia Region Government's Department of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment. Co-funding agency: European Union's NextGeneration Programme. Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. Dept. / Institute: Department of Applied Mathematics. Tasks to be carried out: Developing and applying algorithms for outlier detection in time series of ocean currents, using techniques such as robust statistical analysis or supervised/unsupervised learning models, as applicable. Implementing a data pre-processing pipeline that includes data cleansing, missing data imputation, data filtering and standardisation, ensuring that the data are ready for analysis and visualisation. Generating automated reports on data quality that summarise the statistical characteristics of pre-processed data, outliers detected and cleansing actions performed. Optimising data analysis tools, documenting the code and functionality to make sure they can be reused and understood by the team. Validating time series of ocean currents, developing a protocol for validating ocean current data in collaboration with other team members. Implementing an online graphic visualisation environment, working with other team members on the design of a graphic user interface (GUI), accessible online, which allows for the visualisation of time series and their analysis. Automating and optimising processes by implementing automation scripts for data analysis and visualisation, reducing processing time and facilitating updating of results. Participating in weekly meetings to report on progress made, identify obstacles and adjust priorities according to the objectives of the project. Third. Application assessment criteria. Experience (maximum 3 points): performance of tasks and activities, by means of an employment contract, in any field or administrative relationship, excluding teaching activities, will be assessed at the rate of 1 point per full year, or a proportional part per full month for periods of less than a year, related to the tasks listed in the second section of this call for applications and to: Python and/or R programming: with skills in specialised libraries for data analysis such as NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, and data visualisation like EarthPy, RasterIO, Matplotlib and Plotly. Handling of large datasets, so that anomalies can be detected and information structured for statistical analysis. Outlier detection techniques, such as distance-based methods, Boxplot, density-based methods and nearest neighbour methods. Machine learning methods for anomaly detection and advanced techniques for unsupervised classification. Data analysis techniques, linear and multiple regression, principal component analysis for data simplification and pattern visualisation, and data decomposition and analysis of spatial and temporal variability, applied to large volumes of information. Additional education (maximum 3 points): Qualifications related to the tasks described in the second section and to the ones mentioned below will be considered as well as certified courses in data analysis, applied statistical methods or data science. Up to a maximum of 1 point for courses—taken or taught—duly accredited by official centres or organisations, at the rate of 0.01 point per hour of duration up to a maximum of 50 hours per course. In any case, formal education shall be excluded. Attendance at meetings, seminars and conferences at a rate of 0.01 points per attendance certificate. Up to a maximum of 2 points for grant-funded training periods at a rate of 0.08 points per full month if they are grants obtained through a public call for applications, and at a rate of 0.04 per full month if grants have been awarded directly to the applicant. Knowledge of English (maximum 1 point): Only levels higher than the one required in the fourth section of the call for applications will be assessed, as established in the Regulations establishing the University of Alicante foreign language certificates and the equivalence with other language courses, diplomas and certificates, approved by the Governing Council of 26/10/2023, BOUA of 31.10.2023. Fourth. Requirements for applicants. Compliance with the requirements listed below must always refer to the date of expiry of the deadline for the submission of applications and must be maintained until the date of entering into the contract. Applicants must:

Hold a technical diploma or equivalent, or have passed university entrance examinations for over-25s, provided that the requirements referred to in article 4.3 of Order EDU/1603/2009, of 10 June, are met. In the case of qualifications obtained overseas, a statement of comparability or equivalent must be provided. Have Spanish nationality or be in one of the situations listed in article 57 of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015, of 30 October, which approves Primary Statute of Public Employees consolidated text (BOE of 31 October). In the case established in point 4 of this article, when legal residence in Spain is required, candidates must hold it at the time of entering into contract. Have a good command of any of the official languages of the Valencia Region for the performance of the job. Be at least 16 years of age and not be over the maximum age for compulsory retirement. Possess the physical and mental capacities and aptitudes that are necessary for the performance of the relevant duties and tasks, for which, prior to entering into contract, a medical certificate must be provided proving the said capacities and aptitudes. Not be disqualified by final judgement or as a result of having been dismissed for disciplinary reasons to perform duties similar to those of the relevant professional category. Not a civil servant
