Applications are invited by the University of Alicante President for two fixed-term contractual positions as assistant researchers to collaborate in the project "Smart lignin-based nanomaterials obtained from agricultural waste generated in the Valencia Region for environmental applications" of the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Nutrition and Bromatology. Reference: I-PI 107-24.

Pursuant to the provisions of the regulations governing calls for applications of research staff to cover contractual research positions, approved by the Governing Council of 29 June 2021 (BOUA of 30 June 2021), and with instructions of the University of Alicante Offices of the Registrar and the Comptroller, the University of Alicante calls for applications to cover two job positions in accordance with the following terms and conditions:
First. Number of job vacancies and employment conditions of the contract: Number of job vacancies: two.Job position: assistant researcher.Working hours: 37.5 hours/week in morning/afternoon sessions.Remuneration: €1,400 gross/monthly (plus extra payments in accordance with current regulations).Estimated duration of the contract: 6 months, from the signing of the contract until 30/06/2025.The duration of the contract will depend on the duration of the project and the budget availability.
In accordance with the provisions of the agreement of the Governing Council of 27 January 2022, which approves the University of Alicante 4th Plan for equal opportunities between women and men, it is hereby stated that there is no under-representation of either gender in the category of assistant researcher.
Second. Purpose. The successful candidates will collaborate in the research project "Smart lignin-based nanomaterials obtained from agricultural waste generated in the Valencia Region for environmental applications" (MFA/2022/061), performing the following tasks:
Development of microwave-assisted extraction methods using products derived from agricultural waste.Conduct of tests for the characterisation of extracts with high added value.Encapsulation of smart biofertilisers.Conduct of analyses for the determination of chemical compounds using analytical techniques. Third. Job profile Preference will be given to those with:
Experience and training related to the tasks listed in the second section of the call and to:Characterisation of polymers and biopolymers.Characterisation of natural extracts.Interpretation of the results of DSC, TGA and structural characterisation tests.Qualification: Official Master's degree in Environmental and Sustainable Chemistry (Spanish MECES level 3 or EQF level 7) or any other Master's degree with equivalent content. Fourth. Requirements for applicants Compliance with the requirements listed below must always refer to the date of expiry of the deadline for the submission of applications and must be maintained until the date of entering into the contract. Applicants must:
Hold or be in the process of obtaining an undergraduate degree in Chemistry (Spanish MECES level 2 or EQF level 6) plus an official Master's degree in Environmental and Sustainable Chemistry (Spanish MECES level 3 or EQF level 7) or any other Master's degree with equivalent content.Be a Spanish national or be in one of the situations listed in article 57 of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015, of 30 October, which approves the revised text of the Act on the Basic Statute of Public Employees (BOE of 31 October). In the case established in point 4 of this article, when entering into the employment contract, the successful applicant must be a legal resident in Spain.Be at least 16 years of age and not exceed the maximum compulsory retirement age.Possess the physical and mental capacities and aptitudes that are necessary for the performance of the corresponding functions or tasks, for which, prior to the signing of the contract, a medical certificate must be provided certifying the possession of said capacities and aptitudes.Not have been dismissed by disciplinary proceedings from the service of any of the Public Administrations or of the constitutional or statutory bodies of the Spanish Autonomous Regions.
