Job Overview The role of Assistant Director of Program and Student Services in Barcelona has responsibility for the delivery of the gold standard in student support, crisis management, and student wellness; program planning and quality; and the development and leadership of custom programming. The Assistant Director works closely with the Director of Academic Affairs, Barcelona, other leaders and staff within the study center, as well as other leaders and colleagues across CAPA's US headquarters and other global locations. This hands-on role provides a highly rewarding opportunity to positively impact students' personal experience and growth while studying in Barcelona.
Key Responsibilities Lead the crisis management protocols for the CAPA Barcelona students and play a key role within CAPA's global crisis management team; provide back-up emergency support to staff who are on call and manage escalated issues through to completion.Support students' physical and mental health needs, including proactively developing wellness plans and making referrals to professionals as needed.Manage any escalated student issues such as disciplinary matters, roommate disputes, program concerns, etc.Leadership for custom programs which are developed for individual university partners: work with the Boston custom team to develop the programs and then once they are abroad, ensure quality implementation and act as key contact for visiting US faculty and students.Develop and implement standard operating procedures for all program and student activities including student arrival and orientation, activity, and center schedule.Collaborate closely with other colleagues within the center including those focused on housing, internships, academics, and program activities which make up the full program experience.Manage one Program and Student Services Coordinator focused on CAPA programming.This is a student-facing role which requires in-person work Monday through Friday.Oversight of the program budgets and budget reporting.Review CAPA program elements such as housing and activities for quality.Monitor and assess student feedback through a variety of sources, developing action plans and monitoring outcomes.Attend and speak at CAPA events including arrival and departure parties, mid-term dinners, and special events.Present CAPA Barcelona at various events, either in person or online, and lead visits by representatives from our US university partners to Barcelona.Represent CAPA in relevant professional associations as applicable.Qualifications The legal right to work in Spain—CAPA is not able to sponsor visas or work permits.Minimum of a bachelor's degree and 7+ years of experience with increasing responsibility.Demonstrated ability to lead a high performing team.Entrepreneurial thinker with strong people skills.
