Job Description In this key role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, ensuring smooth and efficient operations in compliance with corporate standards.
You will work closely with the Director of Finance to maintain accurate financial records, monitor internal controls, and support strategic financial planning to drive business success.
Key Responsibilities Financial Management: Oversee the preparation and posting of journal entries, ensuring efficient completion of all month-end functions, and assist in preparing financial operating statements and reports in line with corporate policies and procedures.
Account Reconciliation & Audits: Monitor and supervise Bank Reconciliation, month-end balance sheet account reconciliation, and analysis.
Ensure all necessary corrections are processed based on monthly reconciliations.
Income Audit & Reporting: Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all night audit transactions, including internal reports such as the Daily Revenue Report and Cash Over/Short Report.
Tax Reporting: Oversee operational tax reporting, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
Team Leadership & Development: Conduct monthly departmental meetings to communicate key information, and assist in the development, training, and cross-training of accounting staff.
Provide support in the hiring process and ensure all team members understand and adhere to company policies and procedures.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the creation of the Annual Operating & Capital Budgets, Hotel Goals & Strategies, and the Monthly Operating Forecast.
Audit & Compliance: Support during audits (COR, Regional, Owners, government, internal, and external audits), providing necessary information and implementing changes as needed.
Follow up on audit action plans.
Technology Integration: Assist in the effective use and integration of hotel and accounting technology systems, including current and future software applications.
Operational Support: Step in for the Director of Finance when necessary and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications Proven experience in finance and accounting, with a focus on luxury hospitality or similar industries.
Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and tax regulations.
Familiarity with accounting software and systems, and a proactive approach to integrating new technologies.
Exceptional organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Ability to mentor and train team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
