The Water Consultancy Division is Mott Mac Donald's centre of excellence for responding to water and wastewater challenges, offering fantastic opportunities to get involved in diverse and technically challenging work.

The Asset Management and Infrastructure Planning team is one of five sub-sectors within our Water Consultancy Division, which employs around 600 people across the UK.
We work in the water sector and with other infrastructure providers both in the UK and internationally in the following areas:


Water resource investment planningWastewater and bioresources investment planningStrategic asset management and business planningTechnical assurance of operational performance and business casesCarbon and net zero appraisal and strategic planningIntegrated systems managementData analytics and decision support toolsContract's appraisal (NEC, PPP)
Our clients are facing significant challenges from climate change, population growth and ageing assets.
Their customers expect increasing service levels and less impact on the environment at lower cost.
Asset management is key to overcoming these challenges and therefore we are growing our team in this area.
We are looking for motivated professionals, with at least 5 years of asset management experience preferably in the water sector, to join our team based in the UK.
The ideal candidate will have a desire for a long-term career in asset management, becoming a Member of the Institute of Asset Management and managing their own projects.

Typical duties and responsibilities may include: Supporting or leading the delivery of asset management advisory projectsWriting business cases for clientsSupporting asset management capability assessments and identifying areas for improvementDrafting proposalsData analysis to support project deliveryWriting client reportsProject and budget managementMentoring junior members of the team Candidate specification
You will have experience in at least two of the following:

Asset planning or asset strategy such as the preparation of business plansRisk assessment and managementInvestment appraisal or cost benefit analysisInvestment planning or investment programme optimisationResilience assessment and planningDeveloping decision support toolsPerformance monitoring/reportingSome experience/knowledge of ISO 55000 or another ISO standard Required skills and experience: Degree qualifiedIndustry experience in asset management ideally in a water company or consultancyCritical thinkingProficient writing skillsAnalytical skillsProficiency in relevant software toolsAttention to detailSome project management, client liaison and consulting skillsWillingness to undertake assignments throughout the UK, as well as short international visits Desired skills and experience: Certificate or Diploma in Asset Management from the Institute of Asset ManagementAssurance/audit experience including experience of ISO auditing.Commercial awareness and bid preparation.Chartership with a relevant professional institution such as CIWEM
