Universitat Pompeu Fabra - Department / School of Engineering13 Dec | Universitat Pompeu Fabra - Department / School of Engineering | BarcelonaProject Description:Applications are invited for a Research Support position in the Computational Neuroscience Group (CNS), https://www.upf.edu/web/cns, led by Gustavo Deco, at the Center for Brain and Cognition, https://www.upf.edu/web/cbc, Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona).
The candidate will be part of the EU Horizon Europe eBRAIN-Health - Actionable Multilevel Health Data, grant agreement ref.
101058516.Project Description:The complexity of the human brain poses a significant challenge to the investigation and hence understanding of the mechanisms governing its function and dysfunction.Digital twins are virtual models designed to reflect physical objects and offer an attractive approach for neuroscience research.
The EU-funded eBRAIN-Health project will generate such virtual models of patients and healthy controls to study dementia, an important societal and medical issue.
Researchers will process and combine molecular, cellular, physiology and behavioural data into a clinical research infrastructure.
Simulating the human brain will assist the prediction of dementia risk as well as the development of health innovations.Main Research Field: NeuroscienceTasks to be Performed:Work in a team developing complex multiscale computational biophysical brain modeling and simulation services.
The tasks are (WP6):Help develop dynamic principles of aging and neurodegenerationHelp develop the in silico simulation demonstratorModel validation and investment workflowsAnalysis of neuroimaging dataDevelop simulations and modeling through large-scale biophysical models of the human brain, including (1) Architecture, (2) Validation of methods, (3) Integration of models into existing frameworks, and (4) Validation with experimental neuroimaging dataDuration: Estimated over a period of 6 months.Dedication and Working Hours: Full time (35h/week).Planned Remuneration: approx.
