This position will be funded by the European Research Council – ERC Proof of Concept project Cyclo-warhead.

The institute also aims at training the future generation of scientists by offering high-quality educational programs to master, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.Description of the project:Over the past two decades the pharmaceutical industry has witnessed an exponential growth in approved covalent drugs.
Majority of such drugs incorporate a chemical warhead, a mild electrophilic reactive functional group that forms covalent bonds in a reversible or irreversible manner with nucleophilic amino acid residues.
During the first 18 months of this position, the candidate will assess the viability of new chemical warheads in the discovery of novel kinase inhibitors.
The project will involve the use of reagents suitable for late-stage functionalization.
During the last 18 months, the project will involve the discovery and development of novel skeletal editing platforms to impact medicinal chemistry.Responsibilities:Design and discovery of novel kinase inhibitors with new chemical warheads.Writing reports, preparation of scientific articles, and presentation of results in group meetings and conferences.Complete documentation of research results.Requirements:PhD in Organic Chemistry.Proven track record in chemical synthesis, catalysis, and medicinal chemistry.Proven good level of written and spoken English.Strong commitment to scientific excellence.We offer:A 3-year full-time contract.Remuneration according to individual's qualification/experience.Annual salary split in twelve monthly payments.Incorporation: January 2025.The candidate must submit (a) a cover letter highlighting the interest in the position in the Suero research group, (b) a full CV including a research summary highlighting the most significant results, and (c) the names and emails of at least two referees that might be willing to write down a recommendation letter.Selection Process:ICIQ's selection process usually entails the following phases:Pre-selection: The pre-selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise as reflected in the candidates' CVs.
